Get a GP apt!
But at a guess contact dermatitis? Did you have a plaster there? I get similar looking reactions to adhesives
But in the meantime try holding a cold flannel on it to help with the itch and show it to the pharmacist, get some hydrocortisone cream for the itch and swelling and antihistamine tablets for the itchyness

I’m not registered with a GP in the area I’m in and am in the middle of a house move so hoping to treat with over the counter stuff, whatever it is.

Thanks for the suggestion, I can pop into a pharmacy.

Not that I’m aware of, but my dad does, as did my maternal grandmother….

My dd has this, it started just like yours, I thought ringworm. Started in Feb. Drs couldn't work it out as nothing worked and it started showing up on other parts in smaller forms. We are now under the dermatologists, they think stress is causing it but they are saying its just a standard eczema and recommend milton baths

rileynexttime · 09/09/2023 21:55

Milton baths ? Isn't Milton a mild bleach ?

rileynexttime · 09/09/2023 22:03

Ok Google tells me often recommended

MoxieFox · 09/09/2023 22:10

It looks a bit like a giant hogweed/wild parsnip blister? Have you done any weeding in your garden? The one you have would be from just brushing up against the plant.

Yeah I couldn't believe it, she handed me the NHS print out that states to use the milton liquid. I said I remember using the wipes and tablets in the baby days

Maybe worth getting checked when possible. Looks very like a skin condition caused by diabetes

Newusernameaug · 10/09/2023 07:51

Thanks for the answers everyone - I’ve not been in the garden / around any possible plants and it’s grown itself so I don’t believe it’s a reaction.

it’s felt like other areas are going to grow but haven’t gone further than a spot.

To me this looks fungal… I would recommend eurax to relieve itching, try a bit of canesten on there. Have you been eating a lots of sugar lately-due to the stress of the house move maybe? This always sets mine off and it gets better with the creams above and eating better without extra sugars.

Newusernameaug · 10/09/2023 20:14

You’re spot on @PhysioLim - I’ve been eating loads more sweet things than normal, healthy eating, daily exercise etc. have all gone out of the window.

It’s fascinating how quickly our body shows signs of stress!

Since I posted those pics, it’s continued to grow and become more swollen.

So I raided my bathroom cupboard and found some drops of Oil of Oregano. I mixed a few drops with a small amount of coconut oil and have applied three times since 1pm.

It’s drastically changed in just a few hours!

The swelling is going down, the itching has subsided and the tingling is going away. It looks less hot and red around it too.

Whatever it is - it doesn’t like Oregano! 🤣

I think it now looks more like ringworm? Previously it was too swollen to see the ring, I think?

I’ve also been doing some body love meditations and affirmations (I googled the emotional cause as described by Louise Hay) to help me not be angry about getting this and turn it into positivity as illness can spiral my mental health, and I’m already feeling I’m struggling a bit with juggling the house sale and move and a massive stress and pressure at work 🤪🤣

The ringworm brings up shame in me as it somehow feels dirty!

There's no shame in ringworm OP, perfectly fit and healthy people get it without being dirty or unclean. It spreads a lot in gyms, my daughter got it repeatedly from the swimming pool until they closed it over the summer for refurbishment and then presumably deep cleaned before reopening. She would shower immediately after every swimming lesson so it's nothing to do with being dirty.

Tunnocksmallow · 10/09/2023 20:34

I had similar once and turned out to be ringworm. If you go to a pharmacy they will recommend creams for you to use.

Newusernameaug · 10/09/2023 20:41

Aww thank you @InterFactual - I know that logically but it’s nice to hear and be reminded so thanks.

I stay in a hotel during the week, the same one, last week they unexpectedly closed the steam, sauna, hot tub and pool and said they’re doing renovations and a deep clean….. so I wonder if I’m not the only spa user to catch it!
I hadn’t considered there until you mentioned.

Thanks @Tunnocksmallow I was planning to go to a pharmacy tomorrow if it had continued to grow but now the Oregano is working I’ll keep going with this unless it flares back up.
