Feel conned by Co-Op

We moved a couple of weeks ago and we have a Co-op near by so thought I would join the membership rewards thing and let the money slowly build up.

Well my card came yesterday, so off I went to buy some milk. Only to be told, my card isn’t valid there. Apparently they require a specific card for a specific shop…wasnt told that.

He scanned my card to prove it and it was invalid. I tried to get my app to scan cos I was told I could use that until my card came…and nope, that isn’t valid either.

Means I’ve spent £1 on a card I can’t use. I’ve sent off a complaint but I doubt I get any answers.

I've never known this, unless it's something new. I have a co op card, use it in every co op I go to, often in other towns, not just my local. Never had a problem

Is your local shop a specific co op like midcounties, central England, southern etc? They are actually separate businesses that use the co op branding.

I have no idea. My card is a light blue which I’m told can only used in one shop…their card is a dark blue

It’ll be a Lincolnshire co op or similar rather than a generic cooperative. I mean really didn’t you look at what the shop was called 😂😂😂

Sent off a complaint cos I can’t figure out what shop it is.. god I’m glad I don’t work in customer service.

Light blue is the one on the website for Co Op group, I’m guessing they were trying to say that their Co Op has its own scheme with a different card. This is what the Co Op group website says on the membership Ts&Cs so if this is the case not sure you will get very far with the complaint. In a previous job I had to deal with Co Ops which is the only reason I know they are separate!
