RAC 11 hours wait for recovery - is it a record?

We had to wait 11 hours for the RAC to come to us at Stansted even though I had an 80 year old with me. They told me if we had to be towed they’d take the car and we’d have to find our way home with trains. We are rejoining the other breakdown service now. Has anyone else had such a long wait when there are no adverse weather conditions?

It sounds like Green Flag are the safest bet then.

Not even close to being a record. I had friends who waited a few days during the cold snap last winter. They were judged to be low priority as they had somewhere to stay nearby.

And yes, green flag are quick in my experience.

I only switched to them as it was an employer benefit and I'd save £10.
I didn't look up them up on MSE or on here as in my mind, RAC were one of the big three. I had AA for two years then Green Flag.
A ten pound discount won't be any good to me if I'm stuck roadside with ND kiddies in the back.

Just to give another side, I broke down on the M25 recently and they were with me in under 40mins. I was towed to my local garage and a hire car was delivered that evening. I was really impressed.

Decades ago we were loyal RAC members but they took hours to reach us on the side of the motorway. We saw so many AA vans pass us by. None of us ever used the RAC again.

Yes I waited 2 days and rac didn't come they sent a third party and they can never know what's wrong with vehicle so they tow it to destination
