Woke up to a man screaming

Just woke up to very loud screaming from the field behind. It was definitely a man's voice, yelling Get Off, Get Off! But over and over again. Looked out the window and could see 2 deers running. Still the screaming and shouting continued but then after 5 minutes stopped with nothing more. Could it be his dog attacked a deer? Or would a deer attack a person? I am really mystified. It's still quite misty, so can't see anything.

Are you calling the police to report it?

WalkingThroughTreacle · 09/09/2023 06:19

Maybe it was a stag party.

Best to call the police so they can investigate.

Oh deer!

MintJulia · 09/09/2023 06:31

More likely the man screaming disturbed the deer.

Are you sure it was a man's voice screaming? Distinct words? Foxes screaming can sometimes sound like humans.

If you are absolutely sure, then I'd call the police (non-emergency number) and let them decide what to do.

Sugarstrand · 09/09/2023 06:34

It was most definitely a man's voice, shouting Get off, NO! Over and over again.
Thanks I'll phone non emergency and perhaps go for a walk once the mist has lifted to have a look.

😂

I'm like that if a wasp comes near me.

But seriously, perhaps the man was being attacked by someone.
Best to report it.

Definitely report it. It needs checking out

Hopefully the fact its stopped means he's away as opposed to lying unconscious in a pool of blood 🤞🏻

Justleaveitblankthen · 09/09/2023 06:42

My guess is that his dog caught a Deer. 😔

I was going to say the same thing. A medium/large size dog can easily take down a deer.

Same - sounds like a dog’s had a go at a deer or vice versa. Deer do attack people but it’s very rare and usually during the rut in spring.

Or do you have a pheasantry nearby? I have to keep my dog on a lead at this time of year bc they’re everywhere & he’d be off after them. If there are gamekeepers and they see your dog harassing or taking pheasants you (& the dog) could be in a shitload of trouble - maybe that’s what he was panicking about?

Potter10 · 09/09/2023 07:15

Can you please keep us updated, I hate an unsolved mystery!

Sugarstrand · 09/09/2023 07:18

Thanks for replies! We don't have a pheasantry nearby that I know of. DH thinks it was most likely a dog attacked a deer. Will be going to have a look soon and will update!

At any point did you hear him shout "Fenton"?

EVHead · 09/09/2023 07:30

That Fenton video cracks me up! Did he ever get the bugger?! 🤣

GunkyAndGungey · 09/09/2023 07:32

Definitely sounds like a dog caught a deer. I wouldn't bother ringing the police tbh.

Wahaha forgot about that video :)

Random789 · 09/09/2023 07:37

Poor deer. But also poor dear (the bloke I mean). He must have been mortified.
A couple of local dog walkers have confessed to me at different times that their dog has taken down a deer. Both lurcher type dogs.
A terrible thing for a dog to do, but I dor eally feel sorry for the owners too. Very hard to fully protect against if you have a certain kind of dog, given that deer are increasing in numbers all over the place.

Brilliant

fairyfluf · 09/09/2023 07:45

Either he was being mauled by something or his dog was mauling something or he was being attacked

richteaftw · 09/09/2023 07:47

Could've been a mum deer protecting her baby.

Jesus Christ 😄 🤣 😂

Random789 · 09/09/2023 08:10

Ooh, just thought of an additional possibility -- rutting season. Stags can get pretty aggressive during rutting and could take a pop at man or dog?
