I'm having a weekend at the seaside ALL BY MYSELF!

Well, me and the dog. There's a weekend next month which conveniently sits between the end of one big work project and the start of another - and one of the DC being away on a residential.

So I'm leaving the other DC with DH and heading to the coast. We will have long walks along the beach, read a lot (well, me, not DDog), and eat out at every meal so I don't have to think about food beyond "what do I fancy?"

I can't wait. 🥰

Have breakfast and nap later if you’re tired?

I’m intrigued, and (to be honest) slightly horror struck, by the posters have said they would be ‘terrified’ to spend a weekend alone at the beach — why???

It’s a beautiful morning, go out for breakfast, walks, lunch… you could have a little nap after reading this afternoon! And an early night. Make the best of the day now!

Looks fabulous!

You're right. Time to get up!

I hope it works out for your daughter and you don't have to go home. From the pebbly beach and beach huts it looks like Southwold. Do i win a prize?

Have a lovely time, my dog loves the beach even though she doesn't swim x

I thought Southwold, too. Which I’ve liked on the few occasions I’ve been there. A friend lent us her family’s holiday cottage on the front near the pier once for Christmas, which was lovely, though I remember being mildly freaked out by how many wooden seagull ornaments were in the house (and the North Sea feels ‘wrong’ to people whose ‘own sea’ is the Atlantic…

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/10/2023 09:49

Not Southwold - Sussex coast, near Worthing.

How lovely and so glad your dd has settled!
I thought it looked like the south coast. Although to be fair, that's all I really know!

Oh you luck thing. Sounds like bliss. I need to do this. Keep saying I will but never get around to it.

enjoy!

Breakfast????

Thought you were starving???

(Greedy pig here, far too invested in your weekend Smile)

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/10/2023 10:26

Should've said first breakfast - I'm planning a walk which will, coincidentally, take time to place that I happen to know does a cracking bacon roll...

Take me to a place, not take time. Although it will take time to walk there, by which which I'll be ready for my bacon roll. And probably a sausage for a good boy.

Oh lovely. I am most envious.

Last year I went to London for a weekend by myself as I was stretched too thin with work and family and my older son being diagnosed with yet another chronic illness. I drank too much. Ate too much. (all the peanut-related foods I could find that I can't eat around DS2... so Thai Thai and more Thai! ) and went to a comedy show.

It revitalised me completely.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/10/2023 10:41

Glorious morning. I've had to remove some layers as I got too hot!

Whilst I was posting that the dog found a dead fish carcass to roll on. 🤢

Going to put my phone away and pay attention to the real world for a bit!

Looks gorgeous! My partner is taking the kids away abroad for half term. Sadly, I have to work and look after the animals! Such a shame! 😂😂

JFDIYOLO · 14/10/2023 11:12

It's a gorgeous day down here, isn't it?

What a gorgeous weekend

Tho a bath may be in order for Ddog

Diplidocus4 · 14/10/2023 11:58

Get dog in the sea for a wash ! Throw sticks/balls on beach for dog to run around and dry off ?
Sorted .
More coffee ?
Also far too invested !
Are you having curry for dinner ?

Just stopped for a coffee and a bacon butty - well, sausage and bacon, but the sausage was for the dog. I was going to have fish and chips, but the chippy, bizarrely, didn't do sausages, and he was hungry too.

Thai for dinner I think. There's a lovely Thai place in the next village that delivers. I'm just wondering if ordering the mixed starters for two when there's only one of me is too greedy...

Definitely not too greedy. How often do you get to have Thai starters in blissful solitude?

gotomomo · 14/10/2023 16:25

Sounds lovely. Think I might take my ddog away next week, he loves a stay in a hotel, especially if there's revolving doors ( hours of fun go figure, had hotel staff in stitches last time)

FiveGoMadInDorset · 14/10/2023 16:27

Oh enjoy, I did this in June, DS on school trip and the other one old enough to look after themselves but I left the dog with his dog walker, three nights of utter bliss

Diplidocus4 · 14/10/2023 16:28

Get the mixed starters !!!!!
Love Thai food esp the mango zesty salad ......

Wishingwell57 · 14/10/2023 16:28

I'd love to do that. I might even do it, come to that. No dog though, we haven't got one. Have a great time.

Riverlee · 14/10/2023 16:31

Looks lovely. Enjoy!
