I'm having a weekend at the seaside ALL BY MYSELF!

Well, me and the dog. There's a weekend next month which conveniently sits between the end of one big work project and the start of another - and one of the DC being away on a residential.

So I'm leaving the other DC with DH and heading to the coast. We will have long walks along the beach, read a lot (well, me, not DDog), and eat out at every meal so I don't have to think about food beyond "what do I fancy?"

I can't wait. 🥰

I have the car, so no. I've told her to see how she gets on tonight and I will come and get her first thing tomorrow instead if she needs me to.

You're braver than I am. That would terrify me.

A weekend by yourself? Why would it be terrifying?

I did that once, a few years ago. One of my dc was in a show on the south coast, so I went down alpine to watch them, and stayed for a couple of nights. Blissful. I went to the beach alone for the first time in my life.

Hope your dd settles down at the residential and you get the rest of your weekend.

cardibach · 13/10/2023 18:12

I’d do tough love. She needs to stay at the residential.

What would scare you?

TellySavalashairbrush · 13/10/2023 18:13

Hope your dc feels a bit better about the residential so that you can enjoy your break. That’s my idea of heaven. I’ve done a couple of mini breaks alone and loved it.

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal we know each other from the LCBC threads (namechange). I'm excited for you! Have the best time.

Hello!!

Don't tell BIWI, but I had pasta for dinner tonight, washed down with Prosecco. There was a lot of walking beforehand though, so...🤷🏻‍♀️

😁😁A weekend away by yourself is the best reason I can think of to have pasta and prosecco!

I'm green with envy! Hope you have the most wonderful weekend op, enjoy!

Whattheduck · 13/10/2023 20:48

Hope you enjoy your time away
My mum has a caravan in Norfolk I often take myself and the dog there for a couple of nights.Dh works away a lot and my Dd’s 18 so often doing her own thing.
I love it nice walks, good food, sit reading/watching tv, bed to myself and basically doing as I please
Off there on Sunday for a few days but with Dh,Dd and the dog which I’m also looking forward too

Worriednanof1 · 13/10/2023 21:41

I have always thought i would absolutely love to go away just me & my precious dog. I do hope your daughter feels better by the morning and you get to stay where you are!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/10/2023 07:45

Breaking news...DD is feeling better and wants to stay! 🥳🥳🥳

I've been on standby since 6.15 waiting to hear from her, so I think I might go back to bed now.

great to hear!

Worriednanof1 · 14/10/2023 08:32

That's great, i'm so pleased for you! Enjoy the rest of your weerkend. A few updates on what you're up to would be nice 😊

marmitegirl01 · 14/10/2023 08:36

Time to make this an annual event for you me thinks!! 👏👏

Tadpolle · 14/10/2023 08:51

I'm here for this vicarious bliss pleasure and heaven!

What is your accommodation like? Xxx

TopicalNameChange · 14/10/2023 08:55

Oh that's heaven! I've never had a weekend away without it being organised around a 'thing' (hen do) which isn't the same. I've never had a weekend away, by myself. No one to talk or listen to for 48 hours. That sounds blissful. I'm going to do it!!! You've inspired me 😊

Splitscreened · 14/10/2023 09:04

I hope your DD has settled in to the residential.

I go to the coast for the weekend solo fairly regularly. I rent a little pod overlooking my favourite beach, walk lots, watch the sun rise and sit over a fire in the evenings.

Pandaandpurple · 14/10/2023 09:05

I am totally over invested in your weekend away op! Will need further details asap 😀 I am doing something different but still exciting, my puppy is away at the sitter until tomorrow so we have a whole day and evening to ourselves. Going out for a lovely meal later on, just deciding what to do before then now.

Notimeforaname · 14/10/2023 09:11

Delighted for you op.

Only found this thread this morning, I was frantically hitting 'see next' to find out if it was happening this weekend! 🤣 Then when I read your post about your daughter, I paniced slightly that you may have had to leave early..but alas, you have gone back to bed. Amazing.

I am WAY too invested in your weekend. Hope you and the dog have a fabulous day!!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/10/2023 09:15

You guys are great. I love how invested you are in a stranger's weekend.

My accommodation is actually a family member's holiday that they kindly lend out sometimes. It's great - way too big for just me and the dog, but very comfy and perfectly located. Two minute walk to the beach and five minutes to the village, which is well supplied with pubs, cafes and an Indian restaurant.

Right now I'm debating trying to get more sleep - which I really need - or going out for breakfast. I think food may win, I'm getting very hungry.

Have a great weekend.

I'm sort of doing the opposite later this week, dh is taking the kids away and I'm staying at home by myself. My mum is horrified, she thinks I'm having some sort of mid life crisis. I haven't been alone over night in years.

VineRipened · 14/10/2023 09:19

It’s a beautiful morning, go out for breakfast, walks, lunch… you could have a little nap after reading this afternoon! And an early night. Make the best of the day now!

Looks fabulous!
