Do you have bats in your garden? Lying in the hammock with a glass of wine watching them . It feels slightly exotic here in the North West.

Yep. Love to pop out about this time in the hope of catching sight of them

RainbowConnection1 · 08/09/2023 20:46

Yes! They do a regular fly by of my living room window.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 08/09/2023 20:48

Yes - some are pipistrelles. There are also some near a bridge over the canal nearby.

HundredMilesAnHour · 08/09/2023 20:48

Unfortunately I overlook our communal gardens so rather than bats, I have drunken neighbours.

Bats sound wonderful! (and much quieter).

I do actually own a bat detector. Recommend you get one so you can identify the different bat species. I love using it. This is what you need:

Just saw one half an hour ago from my bedroom window 🦇

Calistano · 08/09/2023 20:49

Not in the garden, but they obviously nest somewhere around the corner often see them at dusk when going to the shop.

Lovemusic82 · 08/09/2023 20:50

Yes, next door has them in their roof, sadly we just have starlings in ours. I love watching the bats.

Janieforever · 08/09/2023 20:52

Yup, sadly, they roost in the eves of our house, I’d really rather they didn’t. For so many reasons,,scratching in the walls at night, dead babies on the patio, babies plopping out of the fireplace, adults getting lost and coming in open windows at night, if I forget to shut the windows.

im not a fan.

Razberryberet · 08/09/2023 20:53

Yes, they fly around the garden in the evening I watch them while in the hot tub 😊

SpamFrittersYouSay · 08/09/2023 20:54

Loads around my house. I love them.

SelkieSeal · 08/09/2023 20:54

Yes, at least 3 different kinds. Also sometimes we have bats flying round and even roosting inside the stupid crumbling ruin of a house 🤣

LBOCS2 · 08/09/2023 21:01

Yes - most evenings I sit quietly in the garden watching them swooping over my garden. Not bad for z5 😁

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 08/09/2023 21:07

Yes.

I've had bats in almost every single house I've lived in.

Notaflippinclue · 08/09/2023 21:10

They drink from our pond - they're gorgeous

mellongoose · 08/09/2023 21:11

Yes. They're flying past my bedroom window right now!

Had one in the washing up once. Don't ask 🦇🫧😆. It was fine in the end 😊

Notaflippinclue · 08/09/2023 21:13

One was hanging upside down in my daughters sitting room - quite the Count Dracula

Halo8 · 08/09/2023 21:20

Yes, we often sit with a glass of wine watching them.

FluffMagnet · 08/09/2023 21:24

Yes we have loads. As I came home this evening in the twilight I was able to watch them going nuts hunting. Unfortunately they do have a tendency to get lost at times and come in through our windows, which we hear about when the cats go nuts in the middle of the night.

MalbecMakesMeHappy · 08/09/2023 21:38

Yes, i have one. Love dusk in the summer watching it swoop about.

Cowlover89 · 08/09/2023 21:47

Love bats. My mam and dad get Christmas card from the bat people every year. They have a few different types including a rare one

TheSproutOfWrath · 08/09/2023 21:47

Absolutely love them. I've had a few rescue bats I've nursed that come to me through work. This one kept coming back and squatting in the hall.

The bat people??? 😝 Batman and Robin?

trulyunruly01 · 08/09/2023 21:50

We have a colony at the end of the garden roosting in an old stable block, it's lovely just standing down there at dusk and seeing them swoop around.
I had the pleasure of seeing a Leisler up close the other day, it was a rescue being cared for at a local centre. Seriously cute.

My feelings exactly. The rush to get all the windows closed in the afternoon so as not to have half a dozen bats circling the rooms. The fact that nothing can be done in the house without a bloody bat survey. And that my daughter once had one clinging inside her school skirt, and, at 43, she's still shuddering. I hate the little fuckers.

Irish family vs Bat remains one of the funniest things I've ever seen on YouTube
