Got a few friends coming round for Saturday lunch. Want to do something easy that suits nice weather, happy to buy stuff in...thinking stuff you can pick at really...

Greek salad and nice bread is my favourite

TheWonderSpot · 07/09/2023 10:50

Hummus, tzatziki, green salad, nice bread.

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 07/09/2023 10:51

Salad, nice bread, cheese.

ricekrispi · 07/09/2023 10:52

Bruschetta and lots of nice salads including mozzarella and tomato.

Silkiebunny · 07/09/2023 10:59

Nice bread, selection of nice cheese and maybe grapes and water crackers, maybe a plate of things like parma ham possibly with some melon. Maybe some chutneys to accompany.

Also like things like the stuffed vine leaves with the chicken and lamb koftas.

MyFetch · 07/09/2023 11:00

Good salad and good bread, maybe some dips like baba ghanoush? Cheese.

BarbaraofSeville · 07/09/2023 11:25

All the mezze stuff already suggested would be good, or alternatively the tapas version.

Ready made tortilla warmed in the oven and cut into small pieces. Cheese, tomatoes, olives, serrano ham, crisps, crusty bread and allioli. And cava.

NotFastButFurious · 07/09/2023 11:27

meze or quiche, new potatoes and salad (I wouldn't expect the quiche to be homemade!!)

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/09/2023 11:29

Chicken Caesar salad and crusty bread and butter. Dressing takes 5 minutes in blender. So much better than bought.

NoraLuka · 07/09/2023 11:32

Another vote for Greek salad, and bits and pieces like olives etc.

frozendaisy · 07/09/2023 11:35

Yes think Mediterranean

frozendaisy · 07/09/2023 11:38

Fresh tomatoes, try and get amazing heritage ones, ciabatta with balsamic/EV olive oil dip, olives, quiche/Spanish omelette made day before or morning served cold, big fresh green salad, cold meat platter. Stuffed vine leaves (deli section)

Sorbets for pudding

anunlikelyseahorse · 07/09/2023 11:42

Quiche, salad, and crusty bread and cheese for pud.

Ifailed · 07/09/2023 11:49

If you're going to get some ham, please buy it off-the-bone, and not the horrible damp stuff sold ready-sliced & wrapped in plastic.

Cowlover89 · 07/09/2023 11:50

Salad. Nice bread. Cold meats. Olives. Cheese.

Monkeybutt1 · 07/09/2023 14:20

I am doing similar on Sat, I'm going to cook a whole chicken in the slow cooker on Friday and serve that with olives, baguette, houmous, carrots, chips n dips, maybe some parma ham, feta cheese and those little peppers stuffed with soft cheese.

Yellowdaysaregood · 07/09/2023 21:01

Vitriolinsanity · 07/09/2023 21:06

Poached salmon, asparagus and a fancy salad with fresh bead.

Ice cream sundae for dessert.
