If you’re someone who feels low after drinking, how long do you feel low for?

I was away with friends last week (three families together) and we drank some amount of alcohol every day. I don’t drink much because it affects my mood, and I feel physically horrible the next day. But I was still drinking a bit - a G&T most evenings, or a glass of wine.

A week later, and I feel flat out depressed. I wonder if it’s linked?

If you’re someone who feels low after drinking, how long does the “low” last? Could my depression something else? Or partially because of the booze?

I think alcohol is a depressant? Not sure but I seem to recall it is.

I also feel awful after drinking. I'm ok with a couple of glasses of wine if I'm out for a fancy lunch somewhere, but anything more than that, and especially any alcohol in the evening, then my sleep is disturbed and I feel anxious the next day.

So I think what you are feeling might well be alcohol-related but keep an eye on it and see how you feel after not drinking for a while.

(don't know why that posted twice!)

I certainly have a low tolerance for it now! It doesn’t take much to make me feel headachey and sick the next day. So wondering if a week later, i could still be feeling low because of it?

It’s gorgeous weather and I feel so flat and hopeless. I have reasonably good stuff going on in the next week, but no energy for it. No idea if the alcohol is why!

Sorry you're feeling low. Do keep an eye on it. Could it be something else making you feel down? Or maybe you're coming down with something?

I've always been a big drinker (sorry mnet saints) but i'm finding this more and more as i get older. a boozy night leaves me anxious and on edge for about 3 days. I've given up, it's no fun anymore

This is why i stopped drinking, the depression/anxiety/beer fear/racing heart rate. I feel so much better now 7 years on. Doesn’t interest me at all. I have none of those symptoms above and in all honesty, i feel able to tackle tricky situations/life events much better.
