Child proofing a TV for age appropriate content

Embarrassingly we've just got our first smart tv. It's a fire TV. I'm having issues setting it up so ds can access approved content only. I can either pin protect every app, or nothing. I'd like him to be able to watch YouTube kids without entering a pin, but nothing on any other app, for example. Am I missing something? I'm just going round in circles!

We're getting to that age where I'd like him to be able to get up and watch TV for an hour if he wants to (with pre prepared dry breakfasts etc), rather than waking me and his baby sister at 5am... I'm fine with 5am numberblocks or pocoyo, but I don't want him watching the walking dead 🤔

You can set up a child profile on fire tv

And you can restrict access to different apps? I've tried this but it's not liking it! I'll try again with a fresh head tomorrow, its too hot!
