What to cook for guests tomorrow

I have 7 adults to cook for tomorrow evening and it’s going to be 28 degrees. 1 person is gluten free, no seafood and our BBQ is broken. It’s family so not a fancy dinner party.

My brain is dead, what would you cook?

WtfHormones · 06/09/2023 19:14

Chicken pasta bake, salad and garlic bread
Chicken, rice and veg
Spag bol

Beachcomber · 06/09/2023 19:19

I'd do a big pot of chicken and spinach curry with rice and some sort of salad.

Do you have time to toast a chicken earlier in the day ( or buy a pre toasted one ) have that cold along with a big salad, olives , food , new pots and bread

Couple of trays of this with side salad? I used skinless thighs when I made it. You can also Chuck extra veg on.

Having spag bol tonight.

chicken, rice and salad is probably the way to go but not feeling very inspired

Big Mac Salad! My latest favourite thing. Shredded lettuce, topped with beef mince dry fried with seasoning. Scatter with grated cheese, chopped onion and chopped gherkins. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and drizzle with a dressing made from 2 parts mayo, 1 part each of tomato ketchup and American-style yellow mustard and a splash of juice from the gherkin jar. Chips or toasted bread in the side 😋

Do the MN standard-buy cooked chickens from deki counter and serve with crusty rolls (+GF version) and some sides and salads.

Antipasti to start. Bought nice ice cream for pudding.

It's waaay to hot to be faffing with the oven, p,us you'll just heat your house up.

TheSpottedZebra · 06/09/2023 19:28

Oh, missed that someone had said that already!

KaySararSarar · 06/09/2023 19:36

Pre prepared Minted lamb steaks (cook under grill) with watermelon, feta and basil leaf salad, dressed with balsamic glaze - then either easy mini potatoes roasted with Parmesan ontop and/or cous cous. Tazhiki as the sauce - perfect summer dinner (IMO)

Spatchcock a chicken and serve salad and crusty bread.
Ice cream for afters.

This has gone down well for groups in the past

I'd marinate the chicken as soon as you can (but don't worry about it too much) and then serve with flatbreads, salad and the yogurt dip. Maybe some chips/wedges too. I've cooked it on the bbq before but could easily be on the grill/frying pan.

Chicken Shawarma (Middle Eastern)

The flavour of this Chicken Shawarma is incredible!! Just a handful of common spices, 5 minutes prep and you'll think you're in a souk in the Middle East!

Chicken thighs (still with skin and preferably still on bone) marinated in your preference of
Piri piri
Lemon and garlic (possibly with a chunk of feta under rhe skin and some thyme leaves)
Mediterranean herbs, garlic and some balsamic

Roast to serve either hot (poss with pasta and some French beans) or cold (with salad and garlic bread)

talkito · 06/09/2023 20:22

Moroccan olive chicken (easy to batch cook) and fries or oven potatoes

Check that the chicken is gluten free. Sometimes they might cook something in the oven thing at the same time which contains gluten (depends if your family member need to avoid all cross contamination).
