Claiming tax relief on private pension..bit lost with on-line maze!

Hi,

I would like to try claim back tax on my private pension due to part of my salary being in the (20%) higher tax bracket. I believe I can back date this for four years..so worth doing I hope!

I am an employee and have a work pension and taxable health benefit.

I am trying to do this on line, as really hard to get through on the phone and I do try use on line services when I can.

However, I got stuck at the first hurdle as it said I needed to fill a self assessment form but when I tried to do this, I'm not in one of the option selections that requires a self assessment form i.e. self employed.

Do anyone have any experience of doing this successfully?

Many thanks

My husband did it over the phone, he couldn't find a way to do it online. Definately worth doing but they may screw it up later and send you a letter telling you that you owe them money so you have to phone them again!
