Complete crap

LizzieSiddal · 06/09/2023 14:14

What are they advising you to do?

BoohooWoohoo · 06/09/2023 14:15

Scam.
It's true that social media companies can use any pics that you post but you can't opt out of that because if you have an account then you agreed to their terms and conditions.

Longingforthesummer · 06/09/2023 14:15

She ended it with if you dont copy and paste that means you agree

Not sure how long the deadline has been "today" but I'm sure I've been seeing this or variations of it for a long, long time.

Longingforthesummer · 06/09/2023 14:17

this is full statement

Remember tomorrow starts the new Facebook rule (aka... new name META) where they can use your pics. Dont forget the deadline is today!!! I do not give Facebook or any entities associated with Facebook permission to use my pictures, information, messages or publications, past and future.
With this statement, I notify Facebook that it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute or take any other action against me based on this profile and/or its contents. The violation of privacy can be punished by law

You can copy and paste this version if you prefer. If you do not publish a statement at least once it will be tacitly allowing the use of your photos, as well as the information contained in your profile and status updates.

DO NOT SHARE. Copy And Paste.

Here's how to proceed:

Hold your finger anywhere in this message and "copy" will appear. Click on "Copy". Then go to your page, create a new post and put your finger anywhere in the blank field. 'Paste' will pop up and click Paste.

This will bypass the system....

That one's been around almost as long as FB itself. Amazing people still fall for it.

Certainlyreally · 06/09/2023 14:17

your friend is an idiot

you, well you checked before sharing, and therefore you are not

AuntieEsther · 06/09/2023 14:17

This is a really old thing that has been going around forever and only total numpties fall for it!

Sidslaw · 06/09/2023 14:18

Anything you post on face book you are agreeing is public, so if you don't want it to be public, don't post it

Conqueeftador · 06/09/2023 14:19

This has been doing the round for years. It’s bs. Suggest to your friend she searches “hoax “current thing she’s falling for”” before just copy and pasting random shit on the the internet next time.

shivawn · 06/09/2023 14:20

I cringe for people who repost this crap.

thecatsthecats · 06/09/2023 14:21

Yes. One of the best financed tech companies in the world relies on users c+p text, rather than add radio controlled privacy options under their settings menu.

Superlegs · 06/09/2023 14:22

Does she really think someone in Facebook hq is individually reading these statuses telling them they do not consent ? I would think Facebook would circulate an opt out message if it was a new policy, but more likely it’s in the original terms and conditions when you sign up for an account.

clipclop5 · 06/09/2023 14:30

Are you genuinely that stupid?

Elmerchecks · 06/09/2023 14:32

Glad to say I no longer care, as I have finally deleted my Facebook account and started living life 🎉

verdantverdure · 06/09/2023 14:43

The right wing Brexit voting over-80s in my life post that one on an annual basis.

It's not true and never has been.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 06/09/2023 14:45

I think if you are this easily taken in by this crap it's best not to use the Internet!
