Is there such a thing as sun blinds for open French doors?

I love to have our French doors open in warm weather because I like the breeze, but they're south facing so it gets the sun all day. If you want to watch TV the sun glares and you can't see it unless you close the curtains. But as the doors are open, the curtains blow about and billow all over the place so you still can't see the TV 🤣

I want sun blinds that fix to the frame rather than the doors, and still let light and air in without the harsh glare and the flapping around. Do these exist? 🤔

What about an awning fixed above the French doors? Ours is south facing too and the patio doors have roller blinds and the windows have zebra blinds, with an awning outside.

You can get perfect fit blinds for French doors that fit into the seals around the glass. I’m not sure how sturdy they are in terms of blowing around if the doors were open but worth a look.

Look at Blinds2Go they have them.

Do you mean not on the glass but staying in the open space? Reminds me of those rainbow vertical ribbon like blinds that people used to keep flies out years ago.

An electric awning? I want one for my kitchen

Yes I have the Perfect Fit on my french doors. They don't blow around at all - they have been brilliant. Still good as new after 4 years

Yes exactly! Vertical blinds would almost be ideal but I know they blow around quite a bit. If there was a way to keep them still they'd be perfect 🤔

That's not what I want at all, but thanks anyway. I said to go on the frame and NOT the door.

I thought about an awning but it wouldn't work, we have a lilac tree not far from the doors and an awning would catch it 😕

Could you buy a folding screen that you keep indoors and unfold when you need it to position it in front of the space? If it was on small wheels it would be very easy to move about. Something made of rattan or wicker?

What about shutters? They stay in place when the door is open but you can adjust them to keep out the sun and will still get a breeze

Sounds ideal! I'll look into it, thanks!
