BBC radio - the vanishing channels..

We have an analogue as always preferred them but last year ours stopped receiving all BBC channels anywhere in our home. is this common?

I am contemplating purchasing a DAB, would this suffice or will we have the same issues?

our analogue used to receive both radio 3 and 4 perfectly then just stopped suddenly, so if I want classical, for example, I am stuck with classic fm which I hate :(

I think the only one that's going to end is BBC Radio 4 Long Wave and even that's not supposed to kick in until next March. The rest should stay on FM at least for a good few years yet.

You're not up north near that mast that was damaged by fire, are you? I wonder if maybe you've got a local transmitter fault or something like that. Or they took down a mast near you.

Having bought a few DABs over the years that have conked out, both expensive and cheap, I now listen to radio via laptop and bluetooth speaker. Which is great, I can carry the speaker around with me from room to room or to a different end of the room if I'm doing stuff etc. All channels fine AFAIK.

I would say that it's worth getting an internet radio, especially if you hate classic FM - you'll have so much more choice! And if it is a signal problem, your internet radio won't have that issue.

The Roberts Revival iStream 3 even looks the part: https://www.robertsradio.com/en-gb/revival-istream-3#rev-istreamlpc

I quite like listening to ClassicFM and they're constantly advertising that they're switching to DAB+ fairly soon. They say to make sure that your radio can accept a DAB+ signal so as you get a higher quality sound but not to worry if your's can't as you can just hear it normally.

Im thinking that other stations will do the same thing and that I'll need a new radio in the not too distant future if ordinary DAB is going to be phased out.

Interestingly, my DAB radio struggles to pick up Radio4 so I have to use Alexa but I can take my radio anywhere unlike Alexa.

Wish they'd just leave these things alone.
