Last year £405, this year ( no new car, no accidents, no claims etc etc)….

£822! And I can’t get it any cheaper on the money sites!

What the actual fuck?

Mine was exactly the same, utterly ridiculous isn’t it

TheMousePipes · 05/09/2023 13:36

Utterly fucking ridiculous. How can it possibly be double?

Yes, huge leap. We changed insurers and the premium came right down. But dh and I also have a good no claims history so maybe that helped.

Pedallleur · 05/09/2023 14:08

its gone up considerably. my opinion is that they can since everyone else eg gas companies, supermarkets etc have. of they would say cars are expensive now and expensive to repair. but you will have to shop around a lot and the t&c might not be what you want

TeapotCollection · 05/09/2023 14:09

Ours went up massively too, I think it’s the same for everyone

kittykarate · 05/09/2023 14:12

My renewal was 2.5 x the previous years, shopped around and managed to get it to 1.5 x but still felt absolutely robbed.

One of my friends wasn't even offered a renewal quote for her landrover discovery...

TheMousePipes · 05/09/2023 14:15

Bloody hell - Fancy discovering you can’t even insure the thing!
I have 17 years no claims bonus so it’s not like I’m a liability and I drive a flipping Tucson.

I think insurance companies are reviewing their risk and this is a high risk due to theft 😥

My husband has 16 years no claims (he passed at 17) and was looking at switching to a car from his motorbike, 16yrs no claims and they wanted 1200 for an 04 Nissan Micra! I have a 73 plate picanto only been driving 6 years and much less than his insurance (even for his bike) ridiculous!!!

MadisonAvenue · 05/09/2023 14:19

My son’s was the same last month. The only change is that he’s a year older. Five years no claims, clean license, same car and address and the renewal was just over £1500 when he paid around £800 last year.
He got it for around £900 after doing a comparison.
When he called his old insurer to get proof of no claims they offered to price match the quote 🤦‍♀️
