Wallpapering advice needed please

I'm decorating my living room planning on wallpapering one wall.

I've stripped the old paper off (to reveal a multitude of sins), patched up the wall and sanded it.

Is there anything else I need to do to it before I put my wallpaper up?

I'm painting everything that needs painting first so it will be the last thing to do apart from putting up curtains and some shelves

It's a pain in the arse, but putting lining paper up makes a huge difference.

Also you can prime your walls if necessary (I've never done that)

What kind of paper are you using?

I love love love paste the wall, wallpaper. It's thicker which means it's hides the sins better and it's so bloody easy to put up, no need to paste the paper and let it soak and then deal with trying to get wet sticky paper on the wall. Just slap a load of paste on and roll the paper d from top down, slice it off then neaten top and bottom with a Stanley knife.

I'm not putting lining paper up, the wall is very smooth now after a full day of filling and sanding. It's a Paste the paper one with a pattern. Pattern should hide a few sins

I read that we should size the walls first - paint a coat of diluted wallpaper paste on, no more than a couple of days before papering. Says it makes the paper stick better. I did it last time I papered but don't have anything to compare it with.

I got a sample of your paper in blue! Very nice. Decided on something darker for ours.

That’s lovely @SusanSHelit but pattern matching will be a bitch! I refuse to do it anymore.

Good luck!

Yes not looking forward to pattern matching! Thankfully low ceilings so won't take loads extra

I'm very tempted to just leave it alone now, my work pattern means I won't be able to prime with Paste the day before.

I've been sorting the mess of these walls out for days (rental with some very cowboy jobs) and I'd really just like it finished now!
