Anyone ever managed to do this?

Moving house. Indoor cat that uses litter tray. New house has no utility area so litter tray would have to be in kitchen, dining room or living room. Urgh. Has anyone ever managed to teach an indoor cat aged 10 to use a cat flap and go to the toilet outside? Stressing about the move now.

Could you put the litter tray outside but right by the cat flap. Also once you show your cat how to use the cat flap, may have to gently push him through it to begin with, he should pick up how to use it very quickly.

I don't think many people have utility area. Is it an issue to have it in the kitchen? Most people I know with cats do this, including myself. I use a big covered one with a door/flap and I tuck it away so it's not too obvious.

New house doesn't have a cat flap so I'd have to get one installed which would be a waste and obviously put a big hole in the back door if he then won't use it. He was never intended to be an indoor cat but when I got him home from the rescue centre he refused to go outside.
That white one that someone has posted looks good.

My new bathroom is tiny, I couldn't fit a litter box in there.
