Weirdest things that happen in workplaces

I work for a large corporate organisation, meant to be very tech first, huge on data security etc etc. I’ve been there for 6 months and am hybrid working, so only in the office 1-2 days and i still don’t know lots of people

Today I forgot my work pass, only to be told by reception that they don’t issue guest passes so whenever I want to enter / exit the building or leave the office to use the loo / kitchen I should tailgate someone.
Crazy at odds with how they’re meant to be so security conscious

Another workplace I’ve been at had the office manager empty the fridge entirely every Friday, no matter what was in it. People would leave whole blocks of cheese / packs of butter / lunchboxes in the fridge (Ie stuff that doesn’t go off) and at about 4pm every Friday she’d chuck every single thing out. Not even at the end of the day that one.

What weird stuff happens in your office?

the better question is what hasn’t happened! Seen everything from arguing over parking spaces, sassy emails about milk going missing, to straight up discrimination

witnessed a Ops lead lose his shit because someone had made a cuppa and left to brew on the side in the open kitchen while popping to the toilet and chucked the whole "worlds best dad" mug into the bin 🤔 caused a right scene then apologised profusely afterwards when the colleague came back and asked where his tea and mug was 🤣

I'd have cried if it was me 🥹🤣

omg the milk going missing too! had someone check CCTV for the milk thief 🤣🤣

we also had a load of mugs go missing, it was all the “worlds best dad” type ones. No one could figure out if the cleaner had crashed the mug trolley or if there was someone out there with a load of mismatched mugs

We couldn't use the customer toilets even if the store was closed . We were expected to walk up four flights of steps even if we were desperate. If you were caught using those toilets you got a sanction even if the store was shut . So if you pissed or shit yourself climbing the stairs hey ho.
