I am a civil servant and recently got a promotion. My role involves constantly speaking on camera with audiences of senior staff, and during live events with 100s of live viewers which are recorded to watch on demand later. I also have a few conferences to attend face to face and speak at. I need to essentially grow up and mature and stop being self conscious…But I can’t help but wonder how I’m coming across and what I look like and feel awkward. Any advice? The line of work is different to what I’ve done before so I feel like I’m starting from scratch.
