Anyone had a Shape Tomorrow survey from the ONS?

Anyone else had one of these 'Shape Tomorrow' surveys? I received a reminder today after not following up their last letter. In it, they again tell me that if they don't hear from me they may call or visit me to "tell me more about the study". Bit of a concern that they may have my telephone number!

Nowhere on the letter does it say it's mandatory, but the letter today came in a brown envelope with 'on his majesty's service' on the front.

The survey has to be done over the phone or online, no paper option.

I got one today.

I seem to remember signing up to the ons website when everyone I knew was getting paid to do home covid tests and I was jealous...

I'm going to do it online.
DH undecided ( less swayed by thought of tenner gift voucher!)

That's interesting - you signed up for the ONS site. I definitely didn't 😊I think they select various households, don't know whether it's random for if there's criteria. I'm naturally suspicious of people who want loads of data from me, so probably won't do it. Nowhere does it state, explicitly, that it's voluntary. It's the "we will visit you" bit that gets my goat! Fuck off, don't bloody visit me just because I didn't fill in your survey. It's like Big Brother....

DH has had a few ONS surveys and usually gets a voucher in return. I did a face to face one a few years ago which went on for 2 years with an interview every 3 months and got sod all.

Not sure if they were billed as mandatory though. They generally select people at random.

@ohtowinthelottery - no, don't think they are mandatory. It's just that nowhere does it say it's voluntary and with it arriving in such an official envelope...I thought it was something serious to do with tax or something!

Well, they weren't joking - someone did call me today! No idea where they got my mobile number from, the letter was addressed to 'the resident'. Unfortunately, the call got cut off before I could ask.

I’ve had the same letters. I did one or two but then became suspicious and decided it wasn’t worth the effort. Pretty sure I didn’t give them my phone number so if I receive a call I will be even more suspicious! If someone turns up on the doorstep that would annoy me too as it should be clear to them I don’t want to participate. You have to be careful these days with so many scammers about…
