This is insane. Apparently, loads of viewers complained but it took an emaciated child with duct tape on their wrists and ankles, to escape to a neighbour's asking for water. I had never even heard of her.

Urgh! What a horrid woman. She looks angry and deranged in those YouTube clips anyway but I wonder if that's just because I know now.

Bansheed · 04/09/2023 07:49

She had millions of followers. It is bewildering.

It seems to me to be a bigger debate around regulation of influencers and the Internet too. I am trying to educate my children on what they watch (Andrew Tate was a real issue in this house for a while) and I am sure they are not on religious channels but this story has really saddened me. And concerned me.

It's crazy! I was surprised it hadn't been mentioned on here mode. The video clips are really odd but her she had two million followers!

Felt sickened, seeing this. Looked like such an idyllic beautiful family, her reading books with her children, her looking beautiful in pics, children looking well-kept, healthy, happy. It just makes you wonder how fake people are...

She was a parenting blogger, then deleted everything once people started questioning some of her awful practices, like withholding food and taking away the kids beds. After the channel got taken down, she seems to have escalate, with the poor kids being tied up, beaten and starved. One of them escaped through a window and got help from a neighbour.

The witch has been charged to between 4-60 years (not sure how it works in US, but will depend on parole board). Whatever they do to her though won't be half as bad as what she was doing to those poor children though.

Where was the father in all this? He had called for harsh punishment for the mother, who deserves it, but why didn't he intervene? From the BBC article they split in 2022 but the bedless child report is from 2020.

Jessforless · 21/02/2024 09:35

This story is awful, but I’m also confused where the father is. He’s obviously not on trial or under any suspicion.

Pumpkinini · 21/02/2024 10:04

I just read this story. I'm disturbed by it, feel sick yo my stomach for the kids, and also disturbed by how YouTube watchers were egging her on. It's the same dynamic in many child abuse cases isn't it. People egging each other on, dehumanising the children, (if they had any to begin with) letting go if her maternal instincts. She was a "star" abuser this b*ch.

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 22/02/2024 15:34

She has been given the maximum sentence. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-68353302

No trial as she plead guilty. It is just horrific what she put those children through and that she thought she was doing the right thing.

She absolutely deserves her sentence but it does throw light in how destructive echo chambers, conspiracy theories and destructive religious obsessions can be.
