GP and contraception

Ok so this is going to sound really stupid...I need to go back on contraception (I want to give the implant another go) but I have no idea how to do this Blush.

It has been years since I last took hormonal contraception and when I did I just went to the family planning clinic and let them deal with it. This is no longer an option so will need to go to my GP.

Do I just make a normal doctors appointment and tell them what I want? Or will I need to make an appointment to see the practice nurse?

As you can tell I am pretty clueless Blush.

Do you have a sexual health clinic in your area? We are usually directed to make appointments there.

When you ring the docs the receptionist will ask why you are calling and get you booked with the right person, at my surgery for the first appointment you have to see a Dr as it's a small practice with no other HCP's who can prescribe.

Not in my area. The nearest one (which I used to go to when I lived closer) is a bit of a trek. My GP surgery on the other hand is just up the road so thought it would be better to try there first.

When I got my implant I spoke to the receptionist, she gave me a appointment with the nurse (think I needed a 30 min slot). I was told to collect a prescription for the implant so it was ready for my appointment.

Ah right. Might just try giving them a ring and asking the receptionist what to do.
