Urgent advice about low heart rate.

DH has high blood pressure. He takes Amoldopine to control it, but his higher number was just outside the upper limit, so they added another tablet, which he has failed to take.

It's not massively high, the upper limit is 130 and he's 134 (top number, lower number is in 70s).

His heart rate is always around 50-55 and gp has not been worried.

As he was off today I gave him a niacin tablet (I know, I've given it him before and he was fine and I know it helps lower BP).

About 15 minutes after taking it he said he felt tingling and turned red. He did his blood pressure and it was 113/46 and his heart rate was 67BPM.

I realised his skin on face and arms was bright red and he looked very flushed, so realised it was probably due to the niacin and he had a niacin flush.

His BP is now back to normal and his skin is fading, bur I'm still concerned about his heart rate. I'm going to check again, but it's dropped back down as his BP has risen, and at one point was 45 BPM, which seems far too low.

He refuses an ambulance and his temperature is fine.

Forgot to add, he didn't have chest pain, nor jaw or arm pain, just a tingly sensation in his arms and face where the flushing was.

Ring 111 for advice.

No responsible healthcare professional will give advice over a forum such as this.

Ring 111 mn is not the place. Hope he’s ok. Have him drink a glass of water, my friend has heart problems and was told to do this.
