Just wish the universe would give me a break

I'm skint, I'm so in debt, my life is a mess. I've been selling bits and pieces that I've scraped together on Vinted for pennies trying to chip away at my overdraft. Sold some books for £5, went to post it at the evri drop shop at a one stop - parked in the wrong car park, missed a small sign and just got a £60 parking fine, had no idea, genuinely believed I was parking in the right place - think facade of shops - so I'm up a fiver but now down £60. Just wish the universe would give me a break. Not quite sure how I'm going to get to the end of the month now. That's right, September 2nd, and I have no idea how I'm going to make it to the end of the month. What's the point. Why bother.

Appeal the parking fine. You had a migraine attack, had to stop the car for safety reasons. You suddenly vomited in your car, had to stop to get something to clean up. That sort of thing. I successfully appealed one that said I parked and left the car park though they had no proof I’d left just a photo of my empty car. Good luck.

Positanoprincipessa · 02/09/2023 14:52

I’m so sorry.

is there any way you can phone and try to challenge the fine? Or ask if you can pay it in instalments?

I hear you anyway. There are days when it does feel like the world is out to get you. I hope things pick up for you soon. Could you try selling on gumtree or facebook marketplace so people can collect?

QuestionableMouse · 02/09/2023 14:53

Are you getting everything you should be in benefits? Worth checking because stuff changes!

Soubriquet · 02/09/2023 14:55

I’m sorry. We are having difficulties as well and it’s so hard on a daily basis.

I would try to appeal the fine. Worst they can say is no

KezzabellaB · 02/09/2023 14:57

Appeal the fine, worst that can happen is they say now. Sometimes it can definitely like there's someone 'up there' taking the piss....I've had a shitty week myself too so know what you're saying. Just gotta keep going though and at some point things will get better, they always do. Life can be a real bitch sometimes though! Hope things improve for you soon x

KezzabellaB · 02/09/2023 14:58

*No...not now. Obviously 🙄

SwirlyShirly · 02/09/2023 15:02

I went online to appeal it, they have a video on there of me walking to the (wrong)shop. What's galling is I could have parked on the street for free for an hour but genuinely thought this was the right place to park. The signage I missed is below circled red. My stupid mistake, my fault, not expecting pity, don't know why I even posted, I'm bound to get my arse handed to me.

Not entitled to any benefits at all.

Yes will try Gumtree and marketplace in future, I won't be making this mistake again.

It's just one damned thing after another. I feel sick to my stomach.

I parked on the far right because the one stop is around that corner on the right.

It’s shit. Sorry OP.

the80sweregreat · 02/09/2023 15:29

I'd definitely try and challenge the fine. It's worth a go at least.
Sorry it's so shit for you. I hope things look up for you soon.

SwirlyShirly · 02/09/2023 15:31

There were only a few options to chose from on the online appeal, one being that I didn't get a ticket on my windscreen so I chose that one. The others weren't really applicable.
