Since when do T-shirt designs go on the back ?

Ordered a T-Shirt for a friend from an artisan site in the US (which may explain this). Turns out their idea of a design is it goes on the back. Apparently it always has, and I'm clearly delusional for thinking anything different. Seems I've been "wrong" these past 50 years (which isn't impossible, I grant you).

Just wondered if this is now "a thing", or just a crappy two-bit Facebook vendor making excuses for the fact their got-it-on-eBay-machine only seems to be able to put designs on the back of T-shirts ?

Quite prepared to be told I've been seeing things wrong all my life.

This is only lighthearted, not life or death, so no need for AIBU...

Is there nothing on the front at all? It’s fairly normal to have a big print on the back and something smaller on the front, normally on the left side on the chest. Less usual to have all of the print on the back and nothing on the front

It’s definitely not something new to have designs on the back, especially when they are large. Often when there is a large design on the back there is a smaller design or logo on the front, often where the breast pocket would be, but not always. I’m not sure if I would say having a design on the back was the norm, lots of T-shirts have designs on the front too, but it’s definitely not uncommon or unusual. If buying a t-shirt I wouldn’t assume either way and would check the item description.

Nope. Not a sausage.

A friend pointed out that they also do zipped hoodies, where the design on the back works.

I'm hesitant to link the store, but on the basis the service and quality aren't bad (and the mug is great 😀) feel free to see where I may have messed up

Those designs look like they are on the front I the pictures!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 02/09/2023 14:46

Okay those photos definitely show a design on the front of the t-shirt - you can see from the shape of the neck and the fact you can see the label on the inside of the shirt on the side with the design and can’t see any on the blank side with, unless this backwards company also put the label on the front!?

I would be upholding the complaint and asking for a refund as what you received is clearly not what they advertise.

Smartiepants79 · 02/09/2023 14:48

Yup, the website clearly shows the designs on the front of the shirts! It’s worth trying to get your money back.

BeatenByAScone · 02/09/2023 14:49

The photos in some of the reviews show the design on the front, so they're not being entirely upfront with you.

Is it perhaps that the design is too large for the front of the t-shirt?

hylian · 02/09/2023 14:51

You can clearly see on the photos that the design is meant to be on the front.

SerendipityJane · 02/09/2023 14:54

Thanks for the views guys - really helps sometimes to not feel you are going mad.

It's not the ned of the world in the grand scheme of things, and is still (I think) a nice present. Certainly not worth the hassle of going any further. However, T Shirt inkers of the UK take note: there's your USP 😀

So they've sent it with the label on the wrong way? It's obvious from the website that the designs are on the front

When you say they in your OP do you mean your friend or the seller?

No, the design is clearly on the back - the neckline is lower at the front and the label is on the back.

The stores ad popped up an a feed a while back, and one design looked suitable for a friend, so I decided to take a punt. Such is how algorithms work.

Like I said, it's not the end of the world - more interesting than irritating.
