Which used car to buy?

I'm looking at getting a new car as mine is currently falling apart.

Family is 2 adults, 2 kids (7 & 4) and I'd ideally love a 7 seater for the boot space (and being able to offer lifts to FiL) but realistically they're out of our budget.

Situation is I will be driving around for a new job from next week, so need something economical and cheap on road tax, but I need a fair bit of room in the back.

I've looked at Dacias but they fall short on the feature side of things so the shortlist is:

Citroen C4 Picasso/Spacetourer but these are top end of our budget
Nissan Qashqai
Hyundai Tucson
Peugeot 2008

Looking at nothing older than 2017 plate.

Any recommendations/suggestions?

We bought a Kia Sportage last year. DH was a vehicle technician 40 years, there are a huge list of makes he wouldn't go for. We spent a year looking....need to be big enough for 3 in the back (grandkids,) 2 border collies. We went up to people with them in car parks, asked if they were happy with them. One lady had had 5. They came up in the top 6 for reliability in What Car magazine. We went for petrol this time, because we're both retired, don't do too many miles, but live in a village.

I am surprised there is no more posters. I got rid of my 15 years old Astra diesel estate,DH retired,we would be down to one car. My astra went to my oldest DS. We have a neighbour who is always negative about everything apart from himself. He asked me if we were happy with the car, said we were,he said he had a friend with one,who said it's a heap of rubbish. It's not a Sportage,it's a little thing, she's an older lady,so I don't imagine she does her own servicing. We bought a 17 plate, that with DHs part exchange was our maximum budget. Obviously he's interested in mechanical and electrical stuff, but we noticed that they don't have rust, the older models, and people keep them clean and in really good condition. He says the MG SUV, similar shape is a good buy, for the price, and he would consider one. He would NOT consider any all electric cars. We have a friend who is an electrical engineer for the railway. He has a Nissan leaf, says it does nothing like the mileage claimed on a charge,it costs him £40 a week to charge at home ,finds difficulty getting working chargers on trips. Ironically,we bought the astra from him, because he said it was expensive,we got 50mpg.
