House spider question

Userno01 · 01/09/2023 21:00

Anyone know why house spiders like a certain wall in my house? I've seen 4 recently and they've all been on the same wall always around 9:30-10pm.

I hate it!

House spiders are usually hidden away and come out around this time of year to mate.
Maybe you’ve found their mating spot 😂 or it’s the same pairs of spiders coming back each time.

Think of it like the back wall of a nightclub.

Userno01 · 01/09/2023 21:44

It's definitely not the same spiders. Different colors and sizes.

Most spiders don't come in from inside but live indoors year round, eg behind skirting boards. My guess would be some sort of vibration that's attracting them. Is there a speaker against that wall? Or do you play guitar for instance near it?

Userno01 · 02/09/2023 08:04

No vibrations near the wall. I'm going to look for any holes or cracks in the skirting today.

They don't like peppermint apparently-I've got a spray that's supposed to deter them.

That's interesting. I did read somewhere that conkers deter them but I haven't seen any conkers yet.

I quite liked the spray-you can get it into every spider sized orifice!

I think I've read somewhere that they track each others pee trails. So if they think another has been there, they assume its safe for them aswel. Peppermint gets rid of the trail so they don't tend to go there again.
