A question on MAP

I have another thread but wanted to focus on a particular question- I had to take MAP and my period should have started yesterday- still no show. Did a test and it’s come out as ‘ not pregnant’ cannot be more clear- is this normal to have your period delayed?

I imagine the hormones in the MAP can affect your cycle and can delay your period

Nhs says

The emergency contraceptive pill can make your next period earlier, later or more painful than usual

Which MAP was it?

As I understand it, the MAP delays ovulation, so it would make sense that your period would be late. Perhaps speak to the pharmacist?

Thank you @dementedpixie it was EllaOne. The ‘accident’ happened in the middle of my ovulation window as per my tracker, hence my panic.

@HardcoreLadyType thanks, yes I’ll pop over tomorrow and have a chat with the pharmacist

I was late when I took it. Ended up with the worst period ever so prepare yourself. If the test is not pregnant you need to wait it out. Think I was a week late in the end and even had symptoms so it messes with your head

@disappointed101 thank you. It helps to know that delays are common. When you say worst period was that in terms of cramps or flow…or both?😞

Flow. Much much heavier than usual that I considered going to hospital. Not the same for everyone I’ve read so maybe I was unlucky. The delay in period is very common so try not to stress as hard as it is and hopefully you will get it soon.

Day 6 of of no period - I’ve been testing everyday and the pic is todays one. I can see it’s negative and the pharmacist mentioned some people might be late by 10 odd days. Im worried about something like ectopic pregnancy-not sure if that would show up in the home tests this early? Im considering a blood test to be 100% sure that there is no pregnancy…..

Get an early detection test, if you're 6 days late it should show on one by now. But you have been told it could be late.

my Period started today. 7 days late but finally I’m out of misery. Thank you for all the kind and understanding messages again.
