I have suspicion that a vulnerable person is being abused emotionally and financially and would like evidence that I can take to police.
I'd like to know any of your experiences good or bad before deciding if this is a realistic option.

A private investigator is of limited use in uncovering things which are most likely to be going on in behind closed doors in the individual’s home or in their personal finances. The best thing to do is to contact adult social services and ask to report a safeguarding concern, escalating to the police if necessary. You don’t need physical evidence to make a report, as long as you can explain the basis of your concerns.

Totally different reason, but I used one to track down the ‘absentee’ freeholder of a flat we were buying - it was causing no end of hassle with the purchase. He was originally from abroad and was thought to have returned to his own country.

In fact he was living barely 3 miles away, under another name - because of debts attached to the freehold!

They took only a week to find him. I asked how they could be sure it was him (it was) and they said, ‘We have our methods!’
Charge was very reasonable. I was impressed.
