Kids & Watches

Do your kids use watches?
And what sort of watch.

My 12 yo boy is refusing to use a watch, but I can't decide if it's just him or if watches are just not fashionable for that age group.

Mine do they have old school casios. They love them, also 12.

Their school now dictates they wear a watch, but they've had them since about y2

My kids have never used a watch. I have clocks around the house and there are clocks in classrooms. I think that phones often replace watches these days.

Neither of mine (12 and 15) have ever wanted to wear one for more than about a day. DH doesn’t wear one; I never used to but then I started using a smart watch.

Yes, watches that are just watches, from Argos.

I don't think watches are a must have anymore. My 12yo only wears her fitbit because she likes fitness tracking. Otherwise she won't be wearing one. DH doesn't either and only started wearing them again with Apple Watch. I think they just don't see a need when they have phones.

Neither of mine (13 and 16) have worn a watch since primary school. It's not a thing any more.

Sugarfree23 · 02/09/2023 12:33

Thanks for all the feed back. I'll ditch the watch idea.

My 12yo likes wearing a watch. He's not supposed to have a phone in sight at school anyway, so a watch is a more practical timepiece.

Generally, watches are more popular again due to fitness tracking and wearable tech than they were about 10 years ago. I'm not vouching for teenage trends though! DS is looking forwards to inheriting my Garmin when I upgrade, but he likes running too.
