I did something I NEVER thought I'd do..

After having to sit in one of those completely unforgiving boxes and have photos taken for my driving license I was literally sent into a spiral of 'what the fuck is wrong with my face...? Is this what people are seeing!?'... Dramatically I almost fell to the ground outside saunsburys in utter disgust and horror. My face/lips were wonky, when did THAT happen!? I can accept the wrinkles, grey hair, sallow skin... as I am nearly 50, but the wonky lips and seemingly wonky face, absolutely not.

I took to Facebook to hunt down the best filler establishment and started researching! Within the space of a day, I was laying on a bed getting injectables rammed into my painfully skinny and wonky mouth! It wasn't a pleasant experience, in fact one would say, quite painful,..

The bruising was quite special after and today there is no hiding that I've had 'work', however the look of my mouth is now even and only ever so slightly bigger. I wanted not wonky over inflated.

So yeah, I am really happy with the look of it.. and at 48 years old, I genuinely never thought I'd be having it done, but really pleased I have!

:-)

It's the 'imperfections' on people that I like and makes people unique and attractive. I always think we're all starting to look the same. And after reading the thread by the poor lady who now can't see after botox, I'm even more convinced that I won't be injecting anything.

I'm sure your wonky smile was lovely to many, op.

On other people I totally agree. I love to see imperfections, but on my face, I looked devastatingly unattractive and lopsided! I still look unattractive just no longer wonky....

pleased for you op.
little touch ups here and there can help massively.
good job you've done your research well.

ToughFuss · 01/09/2023 10:21

Gosh I’m surprised they could fit you in so quickly! Glad you’re happy with the results. I’m not a mega fan of fillers etc but honestly if it makes someone happier with how they look, more power to then.

I try to avoid the mirror. And pretend the jowls and turkey neck don't exist. It works!
Sympathies @movedonfromsmithy

Good for you OP - your face your life - so many people against injectables - that is fine for them to not want them but I tend to think do what makes you happy if it has no detrimental effect on others.
Never had my lips done but they are the most painful area to have filled apparently.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 01/09/2023 11:02

I'm 35 and get a tiny bit of Nucleofill under my eyes once a year and it makes my bags under my eyes go away and less wrinkly - means I can go to work without make up and feel like I don't look absolutely wrecked like i used to

I see it as the same as going to get your hair dyed

good for you OP

movedonfromsmithy · 01/09/2023 11:19

@PilatesPeach

I was told that during that it was the most painful, I'd kinda deliberately NOT researched that part...I can confirm it was not fun.

As my daughters say "You do you!" Whatever makes you happy, enjoy yourself.

I want to know how things turned out with the passport photo? Will you reschedule for after the swelling has settled down? You do know that it is practically a law that passport photos must look horrible?! Wink

But what you don't want is to start studying the new picture for more 'imperfections'
Don't analyse your new photo too much

I haven't been able to afford lip filler since 2020 but remember the feeling when you look in the mirror and see the difference it's made and how better you look

DefinitelyYouNotMe · 01/09/2023 13:54

Good for you OP. Not had any work done and not sure I will for a variety of reasons but I understand people who do.

Disturbia81 · 01/09/2023 14:08

I never thought I'd have botox but I had my first lot a few months ago and won't be looking back. I've had excessive forehead wrinkles since I was a teen and it's been so nice to still be able to raise my eyebrows with a smooth head!

Ooo...I've been thinking about having this. Is there any downtime? Does it hurt? Is it the same as profhilo? Thanks in advance ☺️

PilatesPeach · 01/09/2023 16:51

@Ihateboris I believe Nucleofill is better for wrinkles for mature skin - Profhilo makes skin more hydrated and radiant

PilatesPeach · 01/09/2023 16:56

Seventy Hyal is a new an less expensive alternative to Profhilo for example for neck and hands - a skin booster really. Profhilo is usually 2 treatments 4 weeks apart and Seventy Hyal is 2 or 3 treatments 4 weeks apart - they do not add volume the way filler does.

movedonfromsmithy · 01/09/2023 21:51

@WmFnKdSg1234

Nope! The hideous photos were sadly sent off today! I feel the bruising will be around for a few days and the license is needed ASAP!
