If you're buying a second hand car, where do you look?

I'm looking on auto trader and have had a quick look on eBay.
I'd prefer to buy from a dealer and get some sort of a warranty for 6 months.
What other sites do you use?

Cinch or heycar?

I've just bought one through Facebook marketplace - asked my mechanic if he'd give me advice and popped it up to him on the test drive. It's great.

Cazoo. I think you pay a little more than a local dealer but I’ve been really impressed. I’ve bought two cars from them now.

Probably a Mondeo/Insignia/Octavia type car, petrol 4-6 years old, up to 60/70k miles, £12k max

Does the garage where you get your car service etc sell cars? Thats where we've got ours from

Rocknrollstar · 31/08/2023 20:29

We always go into a reputable dealer. Usually Ford. Years ago we had an honest secondhand car dealer but he retired.

MrsMoastyToasty · 31/08/2023 20:32

We normally go to the same vauxhall dealership and get one through their network Q system.

Try your local dealers/garages. I got my last one from autotrader but I filtered out the private sellers.

I got a 4 year old Octavia estate from Cazoo a couple of years ago. The car has been great and their service was fantastic. You get a week where you can send the car back at no cost if you are not happy with it. I would definitely use them again. I did initially find the advert for the car on Autotrader.
