When you were young, with no responsibilities and life wasn't totally shit?

I'm working my way through YouTube live Marillion concerts from the 1980s and marvelling that I can remember most of the words when I forgot 2 of the 5 things I needed in Tesco earlier 😂

Anyone want to share their 'I was young and happy once' tunes?

Love listening to the 70s and 80s, especially all the new wave and New Romantic stuff. Modern music is rubbish in comparison!

So true!

Yeah all the time. I'm 35 and don't have a clue who any of the new music artists are who my teenager and older kids listen to. I am way out of touch. My favourite is 90s and 2000s pop.

Always listen to old stuff - Meat Loaf, Moody Blues, The Who, Pink Floyd, Steve Hackett, Genesis - so many fantastic bands playing excellent music.

Oh god, yeah..... it's one of the few plus points of getting older is knowing all these great tunes.

@AlisonDonut Aztec Camera ! Love old music, takes me back to being in my 20s, no responsibilities and the future ahead. Bittersweet though as life did not turn out as planned . Remember when listening to records was an activity and not just noise in the background ?

Aye, the luxury of youth! Now I listen to music on Bluetooth headphones while doing chores, even worked out where to position my tablet on the landing floor so I can hear it upstairs and downstairs. 😅

My favourite band and singer were active late 70s to mid 90s (both chief members now deceased), I still listen to them all the time, why wouldn't I? I also
recently got into a band that was mostly active in the mid 90s, I only knew two or three of their songs, but I have all their albums now and go to see them live when I can. Plus the singer has a solo career which is lovely and folky and melodic, which I adore; I've seen him live six times now, and I'm seeing him three times in October. Not that I'm obsessed or anything, oh no. DH comes with me so we spend a couple of nights together in a hotel, on a city break, although he doesn't go to the gigs.

I had 4 favourite bands when I was 15 (35 years ago) and I still love them. I listen to their music regularly and find there is nothing quite like it for lifting my mood. Only 2 of them are still going now and I finally managed to get to see one of them live recently. Was fantastic!

I managed to persuade my DH for us to spend our silver anniversary weekend at the seaside town where my favourite 90s band mentioned above were playing. 😁 He didn't mind, we stayed in a nice hotel with sea view room and a small pool with hot tub and sauna.

I had the time of my life at the gig - front row, sang along to every song. We walked along the seafront and visited the nearby castle, enjoying the glorious views, then had a lovely meal at the hotel the next evening. Win win. 🙂

My Mum was in a Care Home for a while and they were always playing old time, mainly War songs - we'll meet again etc

i do wonder in 20 years time whether Care homes will rock to the sounds of The Jam, The Stranglers, The Clash, ABBA etc 😅

Oh this made laugh! I must admit I have wondered the very same thing myself! I'll definitely be up for a bit of The Stranglers if I ever end up in a care home!

I am reading this listening to a George Micheal CD so yes. Always have 80s/90s music on. Also 60s/70s stuff that reminds me of my parents’ LPs.

I buy later Now albums for the kids though.

My teen years were in the 80s, but my Spotify playlist is an eclectic mix that goes much earlier right up to the current charts. It’s one of the great joys of life to hear a song playing in a shop or on the radio, and within 2 minutes it’s on my playlist.
