How does my phone know.....

Just started watching Brooklyn 99, it's funny and I have binged the first season. On my Facebook feed today, an invitation to join a group about 'Jake Peralta's sayings' and another random group about the series. Now I know phones track sites visited/online purchases etc and whilst I'm not exactly ok with this I accept it's part of being online but how in holy hell does my phone know what I'm watching on tv?

It's actually creepier than listening to you, as other posters have pointed out.

Sign up for a VPN for your internet access, if you are on apple, use a private Relay, and use a browser like Brave or ghostery on your phone. Don't log in to google, if you do tell it not to track your web and app activity (in your privacy settings), on your desktop download ghostery as an extension to chrome or safari, and block every tracker you can.

You'll get lots of ads for toenail fungus, mind you.

It's terrible that you can be spied on like this. Surely it's not right?

party on Saturday (at my house) and some of us were discussing the Elvis Movie and voila. All day Sunday my FB feed was chokka with Elvis and Priscilla facts/groups of interest etc. No Elvis songs were played on the night and we didn't watch any of the movie. It's like being haunted but by a spooky AI... Personally id prefer a good old fashioned haunting by a grey lady or a chain rattling plague victim to an AI me nd reader thanks
