Hello! My mum is turning 60 this year and she is very hard to buy for. But she is the best mum in the world and I want to get her something special. Can people share pls what they got their mums/aunts/grandma's for big birthdays or the best present your children got you?? I'm desperate for inspiration.

As 60 year old are not generic let us know her likes & dislikes! I got my mum a hand drawn portrait of her beloved cat for her 70th but your mum may not have or like animals!!

She may appreciate your time more than stuff, maybe a spa day/weekend away with you. I know I would.

She must have likes and dislikes, we can't identify ideas from the fact she's a female relative!! 🤣🤣🤣

A family portrait with your mum and her dc and any grand children?

TakeMe2Insanity · 31/08/2023 06:48

The best presents are presents where you experience something together, now that my mum has passed I am so glad I got to experience those moments with her.

Took mine to Wimbledon. She loves the tennis but had never been, we had a great time.

Oh god I knew people would ask her likes and dislikes......very reasonable question but this is what makes her hard to buy for. She 'doesn't mind' most things but doesn't particularly have anything she's passionate about. She likes to see family and friends. In her own words she likes to 'fanny about'. She likes cheesy thriller crime books and sci fi but gets stuff from the local charity shop and is never short. She likes long walks. She wears jewellery. I'm planning things to do as a family but I wanted to get her something special and nice. Ive been wracking my brains for months and I just know I'll see the perfect idea like a week after her birthday.

(But thank you for all suggestions, I'm going to go through all and consider if and how it would work for my mum once my toddler goes to nap).

There's a monthly subscription you can get to solve a fictional crime case, I can't remember what it's called but I think you get chapters of a book plus physical clues to investigate to try and solve the mystery. Will try and find it.

ETA: https://www.cosykiller.com/ this is the one I saw but it seems there are loads of different ones you can get now if you search Google

Special jewellery as she likes it, and time together doing something special. Maybe a weekend break
