Towns on A5 - one night stay

Any recommendations for a nice town to stop overnight on a trip down the A5.

I don’t know that part of the world at all. Can be anywhere on or near the route but would like a nice restaurant and some shops to have a wander round.

The A5 is around 240 miles long. Which area are you hoping to stay in?

Are you going up or down? Llangollen?

Which bit? The juries inn at Hinckley has a nice pool and an interesting bar/diner with bits of motorcycles

should have been more specific I’m traveling Bristol to Holyhead so in fact M5 then A5.

I’d like to get within a couple of hours of Holyhead, but priority is to put the time to good use.

The A5 goes through Milton Keynes...

Bit too far in the wrong direction, maybe?😂

Shrewsbury would be best as it's just over half way but agree with PPs that Llangollen and Betws y Coed are lovely.
