I don't think I can do this. I genuinely feel pregnant again. I can't stand smells. I feel so sick constantly. My anti sickness meds aren't working 😭 I'm only on 10mg. I just want to stop!!!!

Tbh really the side effects should be stopping by now. I would stop and go back to the drs and say this one isn't for you. There are others.

My husband has just started the same medication for severe depression and anxiety.
He's on 50mg a day, He's not slept well in the 4days since he started it.
He hates medication and struggles to even take paracetamol, so this has been a years long battle to get him to start medication.
I'm praying he will have the strength to continue as his mental health is very bad.
I hope the benefits kick in before he caves in to the side effects !

I could never manage to stay on Citalopram. It made me vomit. My GP changed me to Escitalopram, who said that's a "cleaner" version of Cit.
I was able to stay on the Escitalopram, although I did have to start extremely gradually due to side effects, and it took about eight weeks before I felt normal and well, and before I knew that it was working. It's been very effective though. If you can't stay on the Cit it might be worth asking your GP for something else. Good luck!

It doesn't sound like the right antidepressant for you. I think you should stop and ask about trying something different.

Maybe a tricyclic?

I managed 3 days on citalopram. My GP had signed me off work, given me anti-sickness meds, and warned me about the side effects. I decided I'd rather have the depression and anxiety than be constantly vomiting and unable to function.
You've done well to get to over a week! But yes, I'd be going back to the GP and asking to try something else.

Citalopram isn’t compatible with me so if I need medication, I ask my gp for fluoxetine, which gives me no side effects at all.

Don’t give up, just ask your gp if you can try another one. There will be one that is the perfect fit for you; it’s just a case of finding it.
