Looking for inspiration for a 'big birthday' gift for a friend! She likes running, baths, candles, reading, flowers, is very busy and hasn't much free time. Ideas, please?!

In all honesty, I'd ask her to book some time away with just you. Didn't have to be mega pricey but my best 50 th present was going away for 3 nights with good friends.
I got loads of bottles of Prosecco etc-lovely as they were but having time with friends was awesome

Diamond stud earrings, if she doesn’t have any. It’s such a great milestone marker gift. Go sharesies with a group of friends if it’s out of your budget - you’ll get a lot of kudos for being the one who organised such a generous gift!

I got a life size cardboard cutout of Bryan Adams! Was supposed to be at a concert but cancelled thanks to Covid..

I loved my hand painted glass and some simple and beautiful jewellery. I also got a lovely bookmark made for me

MissingMoominMamma · 31/08/2023 23:04

My best 50th gifts were time with friends. Take her somewhere!

Mine was a beautiful scrapbook made for me by my children with photo's from their childhood, they also wrote memories and little quotes.

An afternoon tea voucher, as it meant I booked some time to just relax and talk and spend time with a dear friend, whilst enjoying that afternoon tea.

A self-organised trip to Yorkshire (place of my birth) with DD.
I can still see the sunrise as we drove up to Castle Howard. We went to a brass band recital. I met dear family members, one for the last time. I found my way to my grandparents’ house by sense of smell, like Mole. DD heard echoes of “my” way of speaking all around her.
Those memories are worth so much more than gifts.

Mine was a particular bracelet I wanted. My brother bought it for me. He died suddenly a few weeks later so it's really precious to me!

My group of friends got together and bought me a beautiful and expensive leather purse. It's in daily use and I still love it.

Another group organised a lovely meal with fizz and a cake.

Another friend made up a hamper of lovely bath items, skincare, chocolate, wine.

Just some ideas!

Given to me jointly by 2 adult sons - a large golden handbag stuffed full with carefully wrapped presents. All had witty lables. Sunglasses - were to hide my embarassment post drinking the bottle of champagne. Also included a dress, girlie gardening tools, necklace etc. Obviously a gift like this can be done according to your budget.

I got a circuit breaker lockdown and tier 3...
Presents and celebrations were negligible, but one friend (who'd previously lived in the UAE and who is an excellent cook) made me a curry and all the sides, and left it in the doorstep, another made me some amazing chocolate ice cream.

JimnJoyce · 01/09/2023 00:48

a beautiful necklace from my parents

My favourite present was a weekend away in London with DH and my DS and on my last day I was a zoo keeper for the day at London Zoo. I looove animals so this was such a wonderful experience for me!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 01/09/2023 00:56

A stay at a wonderful clifftop hotel with a sea view room & amazing food; a book of a favourite artist (surprise gift); flowers & a vase I chose for myself (the choosing being part of the treat); & the world's most beautiful, expensive & comfortable bra. Fabulous.

For my 60th I had breast cancer, so meh, swings & roundabouts.

ConsuelaHammock · 01/09/2023 01:00

A trip with my sister to Austria.

LimeTreeGrove · 01/09/2023 01:05

Not a tea towel. That was my worst one from a close friend in lock down. Really brightened up lockdown that did.

LardoBurrows · 01/09/2023 01:13

A beautiful, large crystal vase which I love.

Nutsabouttopic · 01/09/2023 01:27

A beautiful vase that I had admired from my DC. They take it in turns buying flowers for me to put in it. I keep it on counter in the kitchen and it never fails to make me smile. I don't mean big elaborate displays just supermarket or handpicked bunches so it doesn't have to be very costly

pineapple7peach · 01/09/2023 01:35

Take her for a Lush spa day! I’ve always wanted to go for one

Whatnowfgs · 01/09/2023 01:41

A professional photo shoot of my four teenagers. All four of them together smiling and I just love it.

It was taken in a forest. Some colour, some black and white. Individual ones, Dd1 and Dd2 together, Ds1 and Ds2 together etc and all 4 together.

Mariposista · 01/09/2023 03:26

If she likes running could you pay for her to enter her next race? (If she does races) and get her some cool running socks.

rogueone · 01/09/2023 03:45

I got a quaich which I love. Got a gift card for a massage, a gorgeous bottle of champagne in a gift box from Harrods, lovely bracelet and earrings from Pandora

Notasyoungasiwas · 01/09/2023 04:14

My best 50th birthday present was a video made by my husband, children and their partners. Each described me in three words and said why they had chosen those words. Then they shared a funny memory of me and ended with an impression of me. I still watch it now and it still makes me weep!

mrsbyers · 01/09/2023 04:19

Husband got me a greenhouse , parents a bramwell brown weather clock - love both of them although the greenhouse is version 3 now after being flattened by storms last year
