If you have one of these and recommend it that would be a bonus!

Audi Q5
BMW X3
Landrover Discovery Sport
Jaguar F Pace
Mercedes GLE
Nissan X-Trail
Vauxhall Tiguan

Scratch these and go for a Skoda Kodiaq or the new electric version. Can't think what it's called!

tothefareast80 · 30/08/2023 12:57

We have an F Pace P400e and absolutely love it. It's super comfy, hybrid engine is a dream, absolutely eats the miles and the cabin is really quiet even on motorways. We've driven it to Europe and back 4 times now and it's been perfect in every way.

MrsRoxkwell · 30/08/2023 12:58

I’d love an electric car but we don’t have a drive way unfortunately! Thanks for all your advice though I will expand my search.

F pace

Have you owned both cars? I have. The ix3 in sport mode is just as fast from standing as the macan turbo.

It really isn’t. The iX3 is 6.8 seconds to 62mph vs 4.3 for the Macan Turbo. They’re not even in the same league performance wise. The iX3 has similar performance to the base spec Macan.

Audi Q5
BMW X3
Landrover Discovery Sport
Jaguar F Pace
Mercedes GLE
Nissan X-Trail
Vauxhall Tiguan

q5 (as i prefer audi over bmw to drive)
then the Vw Tiguan (as audi own vw)
3rd choice the x3

Discovery sports are very unreliable (quick google of owner reviews and issues put me right off when i looked at them) & i had an xtrail as a courtesy car recently - v cheap and nasty feel and not nice to drive. I also don’t like Mercedes much based on 2 previous cars so would rule that out too. Never driven a jaguar but i quite like the f pace looks wise

If your used to an estate car not many suvs will have the boot space your used to. When we were looking at a new car estates had so much more boot space or usable boot space they were a clear winner. We have a large pushchair and like to go camping having a estate has been great.
Yes suvs look nice and are higher up but you will lose cabin space/ luggage space as the boots are less square in suvs.

I haven’t Test driven any yet as I’m finding it so difficult to be able to! The salesmen all want to sit down and go through all the finance stuff when I literally just want to drive the car before I even think about it. It’s a bit of a nightmare.

If you want to test drive a few cars tell them you’re paying cash.
Personally I’d go for a Toyota Rav 4 . Avoid Landrover. Tiguan is the best from your list.

eurochick · 30/08/2023 15:34

I have an x3 and absolutely love it. It's a fantastic car. If i had to buy a car tomorrow I would buy another one.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 30/08/2023 16:09

Seat Ateca which is Seat’s Tiguan.

Caspianberg · 30/08/2023 16:16

We looked at the vw Tiguan. Ended up getting the vw id4. It’s the same size. We love it. It has good range, so I doubt it would matter if you don’t have a charger at home.

Rainbowsandrainclouds1 · 30/08/2023 16:16

Have you looked at the Mazda CX 5.

I looked at about 10 different cars and went for the CX5 as it was reasonably priced, has a premium feel interior and a good engine.

xogossipgirlxo · 30/08/2023 16:18

Tiguan is lovely, although not as spacious as I’d like. Recently had reality check since I have a baby and had to move passenger seats bit closer to fit pram and have some space left for i.e.grocery shopping. If going away with 2 children, you need roof box, but to be honest it probably is going to be the case with Ateca, Kodiaq or Q5 as they’re all similar size

This. Why do you need something higher up? Is it for disability?

You will find your current estate probably has more space than most of the SUVs listed, also probably drives better especially in tight bends.

Estates are also safer for cyclists, pedestrians (especially children) and other road users as well as less likely to roll than an SUV.

If it has to be a SUV for height, maybe consider a Toyota Rav4, they are incredibly reliable and can properly off road if needed.

Defender90 · 30/08/2023 16:35

I love my SQ5.

MrsRoxkwell · 30/08/2023 16:38

Does anyone have any experience with the new Peugeots? They look really nice now and 5008 is huge!

OP posts:
Bluevelvetsofa · 30/08/2023 16:57

Skoda Kodiaq or Karoq.
Hyundai Tucson

We’ve had a test drive without anyone wanting to do finance first. But the Peugeot dealer was very keen to do the finance before anything else.

LlynTegid · 30/08/2023 17:56

None of those, the Toyota Rav 4 perhaps.

foolishone · 30/08/2023 18:01

Out of those the Tiguan or X-Trail.
Have you considered the Honda CRV or Hyundai Tucson?

foolishone · 30/08/2023 18:01

I've had two Peugeots and I hated them both and won't have one again.

thinkfast · 30/08/2023 18:05

It's not on your list OP but we love our Lexus RX.

Dibblydoodahdah · 30/08/2023 18:06

Mercedes GLE. I have one and love it.

LBOCS2 · 30/08/2023 18:07

If you want a lot of boot space and are unlikely to need to use the additional seats, our XC90 has a huge boot. The XC60 is also a good shout, and they're both incredibly reliable.

alh26 · 30/08/2023 18:10

None of them.

we have a Skoda kodiaq (7 seater) and it’s amazing. It’s exactly the same as the VW but less of a price tag.

Greenvelvetdress · 30/08/2023 18:12

I have a VW Tiguan and love it. It's 7 years old and still brilliant. Looks good and feels nice inside. We use the boot for our large dog and it's perfect.

Would 10/10 recommend.
