Is anyone with British Gas?

If you're with British Gas, have they recently changed your customer account number? Also, I appreciate most of you pay online, but does anyone know if they're reduced the ways of paying so you can no longer pay at the bank.

Reason I'm asking is my elderly Mum has had her gas bill, which she normally pays over the counter at the bank. There's no longer this option on the bill and they've also changed her account number. Only way she can pay online and over the phone - she doesn't want to do this and sound odd to me they've changed her account number and ways to pay.

Yes they've moved to a new system, the app is new and the website is different. I've had an email about my new account number etc.

I pay by d/d so not sure about ways to pay though, I can imagine they're trying to phase out manual payments.

She can still pay British Gas by cheque, quarterly.
If her bank isn't good with cheque books, set her up a Metro bank account. They are brilliant and will print a new card or cheque book on demand while you wait, without grief. They also have a nice simple banking app if any use to her)

  1. Write a cheque for your bill amount.
  2. Make it payable to us: British Gas Services.
  3. Put your British Gas Customer Reference Number on the back.
  4. Get your payment slip from your bill.
  5. Send your cheque and payment slip to British Gas Services Area 59 (Parseq), PO Box 345, Sheffield, S98 1EL.*

Thank you.

She's elderly, set in her ways and no way will get her head around technology. She's flatly refused to set direct debit up before and has always paid her accounts at bank counter. She'll be beligerent about change, but good to know she can pay by post.

Yes, new account number, starts with a capital letter. I pay by DD, so can’t help with any other payment method.
