Reaction to Nitrofurantoin?

I have another UTI (about the 3rd one in 5 months) which I started taking nitro for this morning.

However now I feel so sick, have diarrhoea, don’t feel like eating, shivery. I’ve never had this reaction before. Is this normal?

You take the probiotic after the course of antibiotics is finished. It sounds miserable. Have they actually tested a sample and identified the bug responsible? I found using a good barrier cream eased the soreness and stinging when weeing. (TMI). You need to drink loads, but it isn't easy when you feel sick. I hope the new antibiotics work.
