Anyone else on their last week with a preschooler?

DS is an only child and older in his year, and with school starting next week, today is my last day off with him. This marks the end of 5 years working part time with a preschooler. I keep wanting to cry! I'm dreading saying goodbye to his nursery team!

That's understandable 💐

But just think of all the school holidays you get to enjoy together (or have to juggle with work)

I'll have Fridays off in the holidays but I'll miss the off peak stuff. No more deserted Tuesdays at National Trusts or Longleat.
I didn't expect to feel like this as I have found filling 2 days a week tough at times, especially in winter and Covid.

I'm getting really emotional about mine leaving nursery - he's been there since Feb 2020 (barring lockdowns) and they've just been so brilliant. So supportive during Covid, so helpful with any questions we've had about anything from potty training to allergies to discipline, I feel like they know our family really well, we know and trust the staff implicitly, school just won't be the same.

I've worked four days condensed and am keeping it that way for the Reception year at least, because it will give me a chance to sort the house out and get some projects done that we've been putting off with a small child. Also I'm expecting lots of illness with a new set of bugs to deal with, so will be useful to have that extra day!

I'm going to miss our regular Friday trips, but to be honest they've only really been fun since Covid restrictions lifted and he's been a bit older - I also struggled to fill the day during Covid and winters. That winter of 2020/21 was a slog I will never forget. I'll still have half terms and holidays though, and we have two inset days on Fridays, so I think I'll actually get more time with him that it feels like at the moment!

Also our first full school day isn't until the 14th, so we have a lot of juggling to do in the next couple of weeks 😂😭

2021 winter really was hard! Especially having to prebook everything in Nov/Dec 2020 then another lockdown in 2021.

Mine has been at nursery since October 2019, and it's family owned so same staff all the way. His last day is Thursday.

I'll be working 4 days a week instead of 3, so can't complain, but it's definitely the end of an era.

We have half days from the 4th to 14th. Grandparents to the rescue.
