Don't put all eggs in one basket.. I'd never not have a card as phones also break or run out of battery

Longingforthesummer · 29/08/2023 00:15

Just waiting for police report crime number then will claim. Wonder how long it takes to process.

It's not a 'Hi mum, I lost my phone' text is it?

Longingforthesummer · 29/08/2023 00:37

No def not. It is real.

Maddy70 · 29/08/2023 00:38

Dont be annoyed this happens. Money can be transferred to her friend. Its an inconvenience.

Chopnchange · 29/08/2023 00:39

Annoying but worse things happen at sea. Onwards

Longingforthesummer · 29/08/2023 01:35

We've been through alot recently money is so tight plus loosing a family member it's been tough. Severe weather delayed her flight yesterday so had the hoo har of going to airport again very early this morning, another delay but they got out therefore the air traffic control saga...now this, Im just exhausted so probably over reacting.😪

How do you have access to her banking?

How do you have access to her banking?

I'm assuming , although i could be wrong that OP is transferring money from her own account .

BarbaraofSeville · 29/08/2023 06:30

If she's with friends they can manage between them.

But this will be a lesson to her. Never rely on a single point of failure. Phones get lost, stolen or break. Batteries run out. So also carry the card, separate from the phone. But as banking systems run into problems, always have two cards available (preferably one Visa and one Mastercard, but definitely with different banks and the actual cards, not just in the phone).

Saves so much hassle when something goes wrong, which it often will, quite regularly you see sad face stories in the news when there's been a banking blip and someone is unable to buy food, petrol to get to work or some other essential because their only card/account is temporarily unavailable.

Does she have access to her return flight details/boarding pass? If she can log in on a friend's phone, it should be downloadable from there. Otherwise she might need to pay £££s to access it at the airport.

She has her card, she was carrying is separately.

The OP cancelled it in a panic. Understandably.

She (wrongly) cancelled her daughter's cards!

LollipopChaos · 29/08/2023 21:35

You sound a caring parent, hopefully all well soon.

Scotsgirl001 · 29/08/2023 21:47

Don’t stress. This happened to my son when he went on his first ‘boys’ holiday after leaving school (on the first night) Then the same again this year (on the last night) 🙄 Just remind yourself that a lot worse things could happen and it’s only a phone. She’s with friends, just make sure you have one or two of their contact numbers should you need to get in touch. Good luck. It’s a never ending cycle of worry parenting young adults 🫣

Longingforthesummer · 29/08/2023 22:59

UPDATE
She has her ipad so been video calling on that and friends chipping in for food, drinks etc. She cant wait to get home.
Hoping the flight isnt cancelled as looks, she flies back Thurs tea time

OP posts:
babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 29/08/2023 23:15

Why let this spoil the holiday?! It’s a very minor issue. She still has money, just can’t access it for a couple of days until she gets home. Can’t you just send cash to her friends and she can repay you when she gets home? If she’s been the victim of a theft then it’s not fair to blame or be angry with her - she’s the victim in this situation and is probably shaken up and upset. Just relax. It’s not a big deal.

Just all abit toomuch and now the anxiety of prob not getting home on Thursday.

Maddy70 · 30/08/2023 00:53

Flights are as are normal today. Stop worrying My daughter flew home today everything on time. Your anxiety is serving no one. She lost a phone bit a limb

Chopnchange · 30/08/2023 01:17

If you've been through a lot your reaction should be - it's only a phone, keep having fun!

Keep it in perspective. All your anxiety and unnecessary drama will rub off

Haretest · 30/08/2023 04:04

Why did you cancel her cards?

greenspaces4peace · 30/08/2023 05:36

Dh lost his phone, using his iPad was able to lock it down.
Then using my phone and the help a friend feature we located the phone (middle of a lake)
Meanwhile family posted on FB, and it was found and in safekeeping with a ships captain (yes the middle of the lake was a dead giveaway for it being on the ferry).

Willmafrockfit · 30/08/2023 05:44

dd did this on her first trip abroad, in fact i think two out of three of them lost their phones, leaving the remaining one to be in sole charge!
certainly an experience

Oblomov23 · 30/08/2023 05:54

Not ideal, but she needs to change her attitude, accept it all, and make a conscious decision to make the best of it.
