We are thinking of travelling to legoland windsor. We were thinking of driving down spend the night then the next day in the park. Once out of the park jump in the car and start the trip north but spending the night somewhere on the way, spend the next day in chosen location then once finished complete the rest of the trip home to the toon. But no idea where would be a good place to spend the night/day, 2 children 9 and 5. Open to suggestions, we havent dont much travelling any further south than leeds so dont even know where to start looking for a fun day. Tia.

Arsegrapes, OP said “complete the rest of the journey home to the toon.” I’m not English but I know the toon is Newcastle.

Can't see how anyone is expected to know that, but OK. Can't expect proper help without proper info.

I’d be looking at doing something not too far from the M1.

Be sure to factor in that the traffic exiting Legoland can be horrible.

How far would you want to travel before stopping that night?

Probably happy to travel maybe 2-3 hours max, especially if traffic is awful.

Sorry i wrongfully assumed everyone knew that Gods city of the toon was newcastle.

The Knight’s Village at Warwick Castle or The Belfry with a trip to Cadbury World https://www.thebelfry.com/offers/cadbury-world/

To miss the queues, turn right, not left, at the roundabout as you exit the park. Then follow the signs to get back to the M4/M25.

I'd head north to Premier Inn with an on-site restaurant, then make an early start, stop somewhere nice for breakfast then visit somewhere like Chatsworth or York railway museum.

CheersToMe · 29/08/2023 17:11

Oh and don't go M25/M1 as it's horrible.

Go M4 / A308M / M40 and either across to M1 via A43 at Northampton , M42 at Birmingham or A46 Coventry.

Thanks for the advice regarding best route to take.

My kids are complete opposites of each other so not sure a museum would hold both of their interests. Was hoping something interactive? Not sure what im hoping for tbh

I haven't been so don't know if any good (!) - but would be tempted to try National space centre in Leicester based on your distance requirements
