Tomorrow I'm not working and toddler is at grandparents, it was meant to be Wednesday but had to be moved. Anyway, the stars have aligned and I have a childfree day at home alone!!!! DH is at work so it's just me and the dog.

What would you do with your day? I might be so overwhelmed by possibility I just sit in decision paralysis so please help me lovely mumsneters with your ideas!

Realistic ideas please. Money is tight so whilst I can dream of a full body massage it ain't gona happen. But CHILD FREE DAY :)

Do not waste it by being on MN all day ( I am very guilty of this).

I liked doing the little things I used to pre kids, shopping mainly. Not buying things but being able to look at things for as long as I wanted and going to as many shops as I wanted without having to consider a small child.
I might also go for a run with the dog. You feel very worthy afterwards ( assuming you aren’t a runner already) and then can have a long bath inthe middle of the day. And possibly a nap!

maybe spend the day reading All the Light we Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr? Brilliantly written, humane, surprising novel set in the Second World War. Or listen to it while doing other things?

I'd do some baking, make a pot of tea, then drink said tea and eat my baked goodies whilst watching a girly film or reading a book.

Other options are going to a cafe and sitting and having a coffee in peace whilst people watching.

Cinema trip

Have a pamper day at home. If you can't afford to go out for a massage, get a face pack, some foot packs, etc. Have a nice, relaxing bubble bath, shave your legs, take time to put on moisturiser, style your hair, put a bit of lipstick on and feel fabulous!

I feel this post deeply OP, in fact I almost started it myself this week 😄 I have Friday night AND ALL OF SATURDAY AT HOME ALOOOOOONE this week!!! This has never happened in 8 years.

My plan is:
sew a hat (random but a project I never get round to)
go for a walk
crochet
batch cook (v sad I know but has been impossible this summer and am doing an exclusion diet in sept)
going to a skincare consultant for an appointment
couple other crafts
movie

If I could be bothered I would get the train and go shopping and to an art gallery but I know I just would feel lonely, and I LOVE being at home

Search for free day passes as your local gym that has a good spa and relax! I also love to just sit in the garden with a book without being disturbed.
Enjoy your day!!!

Yes cinema! Take in some kfc and wine😃

Rainbowqueeen · 29/08/2023 10:24

Definitely cinema. Long walk with dog listening to podcast or chatting on the phone to family or a friend.

Make a start on Christmas shopping - even if it’s just browsing for ideas
