Do you know what this constellation is?

Without looking it up?

I'm considering it as a tattoo for personal reasons so it's crucial it's correct!

So, without looking it up, would you know which one it was?

But the fact you know what it is is surely the main thing that matters for a tattoo? I'm sure if anyone is interested they can ask.

I wouldn't have known. I just found out by looking it up. Surely it's not difficult to make sure it's correct- there are plenty of images if you google.

Ah, OK - I did look up Ursa Major after I posted and was wondering why it looked like you had an extra star in the big dipper. I've looked up a nearby zodiacal constellation and I think I can see the match.

I was going down the wrong track (Leo), but I can see @OoohLaLaLa has got it - Virgo is a perfect fit with your picture.

My husband's quite good with constellations but he guessed Leo - then looked it up and found it was Virgo. I wouldn't have a clue!

OP, the image you used has an extra star used for the central shape than the image a pp posted. Maybe you want to check if it's actually a 4-sided shape before getting it tattooed? Also think of orientation.

I'm thinking that because it's so open to interpretation I may need to find another Virgo association! ♍️ maybe?!

@StaySpicy - the star you've circled is on the star map I'm looking at: it's Theta Virginis so the 6th brightest star in the constellation, definitely much fainter than the stars it is "connected" to above and below it in @ClarkWGriswaldd 's picture, which are basically among the brightest stars in the constellation.

Yes but it's not connected in the other image. I was just suggesting the OP check.
