Christmas city break - Copenhagen or Vienna

I can't decide! Both look beautiful at Christmas time.

I'll be going with my two older teens (18 and 16). Going between Christmas and New Year.

Or any other suggestions?

Oh both are lovely, Not helpful ;-) Both quite compact and good for walking.

Vienna probably more "grand", in the sense that the bigger sights (Kronburg and
Frederiksburg castles) are outside the centre of Copenhagen.

Tivoli would be closed then I think.

I've done both (and others), both equally lovely. Tivoli will be open, it closes only on 24th December for one day.
It depends what you want from the trip?
Is there a particular thing you want to do, or just enjoy Christmas/winter feel?

I've been to both for the markets - I agree, Vienna is more grand with the carol services and orchestras. Markets are spread out. Copenhagen was magical when the kids were younger - Tivoli should be open.

We’ve done Copenhagen just before Christmas and it was lovely , and very cold and snowy . Tivoli was excellent .

I liked the Christmas markets and lights in Vienna a lot more.

Both really nice. Copenhagen is great but very expensive. If that's not an issue then absolutely go for it!

Vienna is fab at Xmas. Only "closes" for 24 hours from lunchtime on Xmas Eve, so you can go to a museum or art gallery on Xmas Day.... heaven!
