Has anyone had any luck on the dating sites it seems to be hard work chancers liars ect

Get a different mobile number and email address solely for dating for safety & vetting until you meet someone decent so they don’t impose on your actual numbers
Make first meet ups in public and book your own cab etc to go home
It’s a mixed bag,some good uns plenty sleazy guys too. Just be smart and cautious

Encouragingly I have friends who met online,they’re in solid stable relationship

It is hard work, but I had some great experiences too and made a few friends. Ended up meeting my hubby in a different way but my sister met her partner on POF and there was a couple at our church pre marriage guidance who met online so it certainly does work out for some.

I think the problem is it's very hard to work out what attracts you to someone online- you can only really judge a spark in person as its such an elusive thing- so there were a lot of awkward meetups which I could tell no spark within a few minutes and I'm not sure these are avoidable.

I think it's also really easy to have set ideas about who you are looking for and narrow your own search online. I am very aware my husband wouldn't have fallen into the parameters I was looking for (I wanted a partner taller than 5ft 10) and I reflected on that a lot after.

I think you'd have better luck if you can put yourself out there in person for meeting people (there are meet up groups for instance), or hobby or community things. Online dating can definitely work its just a slog as well and it did exhaust me at times!
