Any one do this?

I am keen to watch TV series/Negflix with someone for a couple of hours or so together sharing screens and gently chatting, when they feel lonely. They''ve fragile mental health and it would mean a lot

What works for you? I've thought we would try Zoom.... but not sure if reception will be a problem.

I think it has to be screen sharing as just watching on our own screens separately would be mega annoying as we would never quite be able to perfectly sync

Love to hear your solutions!!

Amazon, Netflix and Disney all have a watch party function where you can all login and watch something at the same time. I don't know how it works exactly because I don't have these subscriptions I'm just aware they have this function. I'm sure google could tell you more.

I didn't know that @Drews Smile

I was just going to suggest both watching it on your TVs, and having the 'chat' on a different device.... you'd have to either watch it live, or do some sort of countdown to start a recorded programme at exactly the same time.

I've done this watching live sporting events with people who are elsewhere.

As previously mentioned, you can do "Watch Parties" if both of you have individual subscriptions to the the service (Disney+/Amazon Prime Video etc). When you go to watch the film, underneath the big play button will be an alternate button to watch it with someone else. It will give you a link that you give to the other person, and they click it and you can both watch together. Some of them even have a little chat function so that you can text chat whilst watching.

Alternatively you can used an app called Discord, it is similar to Skype, and available on PC, Tablet, Mobile etc. With it, one of you play the movie on their device, and then it gets shared to the screen of the other person in real time. There's also a text chat function, and a voice chat function on there, so you can chat by text or voice whilst watching (if you wanted to), or just watch with no chat - up to you! Anyway, it's free.
